2. (a) Where opponents do not make a tackle effective in the quickest possible manner but attempt to push, pull or carry the player in possession, it is permissible for colleagues of the tackled player to lend their weight in order to avoid losing ground. Immediately this happens the referee should call “Held”. 2. (b) Where the tackled player is held in an upright position, the ball shall not be played before the referee indicates that the tackle has been effected.
I think it was a fair call though. He's still gotta hold the ball whether the tackle was complete or not.It was interesting during the Captain's Challenge, Cam and one of the other Sharks saying the tackle was complete.
It's a rule in the official rule book that never seems to get used. It seems like we have been studying a bit. I heard one of our players mention it earlier too.
The ref did call "Held", but certainly not immediately.
he called "Held, held" held" simultaneously. three times...not sure what was going on thereIt was interesting during the Captain's Challenge, Cam and one of the other Sharks saying the tackle was complete.

Probably hard to instantaneously cease their pack momentumhe called "Held, held" held" simultaneously. three times...not sure what was going on there
very confusing the decisions that are made
If you offload after held you get it back, any other reason penalty, scrum or turnover is happening.I definitely remember ref decisions in the past allowing the player to retain possession after they'd lost the ball because held had been called beforehand.
As long as the reading of the rules remains consistent I'm happy.
I liked that Fitz didn't take the bait in the presser when he was pushed on the refs decisions topic.
Although I guess it's easier to do this when you win.
Ok that makes senseIf you offload after held you get it back, any other reason penalty, scrum or turnover is happening.
(I think it’s kind of BS simultaneous offload you get the ball back but simultaneous strip is a penalty - I don’t see why you couldn’t treat these the same)
Don’t know the tackle you’re talking about so I might be answering in the wrong content, but, wouldn’t calling held would stop momentum? Helping the attacking team at the expense of good Defense. It would be in the best interest of the attacking players to lend a hand if their team mate was getting driven backwards for the immediate “held” call. I would think you can either 1) lend a hand and the ref calls held when the momentum stops, or 2) if they lend a hand it’s a professional foul.It was interesting during the Captain's Challenge, Cam and one of the other Sharks saying the tackle was complete.
