Went to the game, have not seen any other footage.
Easy in hindsight to bag the penalty goals (attempts), yet if they had have kicked the goals they should have, would have gone to break 16 nil up. Souths are a massive momentum team & them scoring last in the first half, felt like they were leading at half time. Sharks have struggled for years to combat teams when they get a roll on & both Roosters & Dogs against Souths this year are examples of how it's done.
Obviously the intercept was like a 12 point turnaround & Poms being Poms was another 4-6 points gone begging. The game was there to win.
Disagree with the fitness thing as mentioned earlier. Sharks proved against Saints the fitness & muscle is there when they choose to bloody use it.
Hindsight again, Gards should not have played yet in defence, I don't blame the coach as I'm sure he would not have made that decision had he known that Gards was going to limp around all night.
Sandow is an awful bloke on & off the field, yet a good player. Was probably the difference.
IMO no team has ever had a brilliant era without a halfback who ranks within the top handfull at the time. 1st problem that needs to be solved.
Any asperations of a top 8 finish are gone. Sharks need to use the rest of 2011 to be better positioned for 2012. Bringing up several U20's now is not the answer. Give the 20's a fighting chance of having a great year & benefit later on like Sharks back in '90's & more recently Raiders when they unearthed some stars.
