Great win, still smiling now. Hope Gards is ok. Would hate to see him rushed back before he is right. it is great win have won 2 in a row but I am not getting too carried away. After last year I am hoping we can play like that each week and put together a winning season. We have a 2 key games over the next 2 weeks. Need to beat both the Panthers and the Dargons to keep us up the ladder.

Despite some critics having their say on a couple of players, I've got no doubt the 17 that took the field was the best 17 available.
I've seen all 4 NSW Cup games & can say that there is no-one in there pressing to immediately bump someone out of 1sts.

Possession favoured the cows yet completion rate %'s were about square @ 74%. This is way up on the first 2 rounds, notwithstanding wet conditions along with some enterprising play so overall not a bad result.

Bring on Penrith. They're up & down yet Cronulla should get the cash if they continue recent form.

you are right SDK we don't have any outside backs knocking on the door to allow some of our current squad to drop back to reggies to work on their defficiencies without the pressure of 1st grde..

every great player has been dropped at some stage of their career and maybe they wouldn't have been as great if they weren't dropped

we need to sign 1st grade quality fullback, winger and centre for depth (just like we have in the forwards and halves) for us to be a consistent top 4 team over the next few years..

great wins boys and keep it up

what has townsend form been like? Although i have been happy with Robson, it would be better for the team if Townsend was applying pressure through great form

While that's true when it comes to outside backs, I don't know how anyone could say that Tupou gave enough in that game. I don't know if he was injured or hooked but he was pathetic and has been all year.

He needs to be dropped with Friz, Taufua or Peachey coming in.

____

On an unrelated note, I reckon it's PISS FUNNY that Gallen played 80 minutes of lock on the weekend, going wide, getting involved in attack, set plays etc and pretty much not playing at all like a prop other than some hitups up the middle (which he does in every game even when he played 5/8) and no one has talked about it. It's the exact thing he was criticised for previously and it WON US THE GAME. Credit where credit is due people.

We also lost the forward battle in that game. No mention of that huh?

I personally can't wait for Gibbs to come back because the Gallen at prop thing is wearing thin.

So you seem to be saying we lost the forward battle because gallen was playing lock instead of prop

if so i agree

No, we lost the forward battle because we only had two props (Ross and Fifita) up against a good forward pack.

We won the game because Gallen played lock.

Gallen @ lock is like him playing prop anyway.

Irrelevant.

Actually it's the other way around.

Yes, Flano made a similar point the other day. Really, what we've got atm is Smith putting in "prop" minutes but focusing on his strengths in defence with Gal doing all of those hitups.

I really hope that Flano sticks with Gal in the middle third when Gibbs returns. I thought Gibbs was near our best in Rd 1, and with him back there we will have one of the best- if not the best- ruck groups in the competition, especially defensively which is a very nice change.

I'm pretty excited by the fact that there is a lot of improvement left in some of our blokes. Fifita is still finding his feet and getting used to Carney/De Gois/Gardner. He showed a couple of glimpses of what he's capable of on Saturday night with that try and some short passing. Also, I think Peachey will get a run a some stage later in the year, much like Elijah Taylor did for the Warriors last year and he will really benefit from the space being created by our big men.

I hope we bring Gibbs in and piss Tupou off.

Even if you call Gallen a prop, having Gibbs on the bench for his defense would be insanely helpful when Fifita comes on and Smith is possibly off.

In your head, rent free
just streamed the first half at work.... eek we were very lucky and unlucky

* morris try was a try, its the same ruling in the dragons game
* mills and williams have no urgency in defending kicks
* fifita had alot of fire in his belly
* jeremy smith is hands down the best ruck defender in the game
* if ever there was a game where someone should be dropped, its colin best. WOW
* ross out played matt scott in the first half

overall, we were very lucky and unlucky in patches. nothing to right home about.

I re-watched the game yesterday, at least I know remember why I was so pissed at Colin Best all night haha.

I think people are excited we got a win in a way that the Sharks don't normally get wins.

Like I said after the game against Manly, it really sucked that we had to completely dominate them to get a score up and only win by 3 points because they pulled tries out of their arses at the end and we didn't have the mental toughness to defend.

This game was a great answer to that. They won the forwards battle and had the weight of possession and we just toughed it out and then were able to find a try in the middle of almost an entire half of grinding away.

We probably defended more sets on the line in that game than all of last year.

100% m.b I was speaking to the old man this morning and said it was good to win a game we really didn't deserve to win but it was a good gutsy win. I sick of being the better team and losing

Yeah it's like we've lost so many games we've forgotten it's actually possible to win a regular NRL game without turning up like it's a grand final.

I think that's the best thing about it.
