You gonna be there for this one, Mega?

I hope so... I'm going to make the trek over and have a bit of a mini-break hopefully tie in some fly fishing at the same time too.

REALLY looking forward to this!

Taupo is a great area - I might try to get to this one as well - anyone know if the club is planning a tour for members ?

My wife is a Sydney Swifts member and they had a great 4 day tour to Auckland this year - cheap as chips it was , airfare ,accom , players function , bus' all inclusive it was , about $500.00 for 3 nights

Surely we can do something like this too ? We can all join Fitz in his quest for some Trout

I was just looking at Kelly Tarlton's Antarctic Underwater World because of their famous Shark Shuttle Bus.

I must take the opportunity to go for a ride in the sucker when I'm over in NZ to go to the game in Taupo. It'd be a really cool photo opportunity / media exposure / promotional opportunity for our Club to have the boys driven around in that bus in the lead up to that game.

I think it's a great idea too.

Just an idea here for those that are interested in making the trek, maybe take the assumption that the Club wont be organizing a supporter trip for this game.

You guys could start spreading the feelers out amongst your mates and start organizing your own group tour.

If the Club doesn't organize a 2011 tour, then you guys would have set a great platform for it to organize one for 2012.

If they do organize a tour, then you would be doing a great service for the Club in helping accumulate the numbers to make a successful and fun 2011 tour.

Hi All,

My company, Wendy Wu Tours has been asked to put together the packages for the Supporters Tour on behalf of the club to Lake Taupo in NZ which is being played at 1430 Sunday 3rd April. (Round 4 vs Warriors)

For the supporters tours I envisage there being air/land packages and land only packages with options to allow flexibility to those who may wish to extend before/after the game in NZ on holiday.

What I am canvassing is ideas from those who are thinking of going to the game to see what you would like to be included in a package deal that would say “I will book it through the official supporters tour as that is good value” rather than trying do it on line yourself (though in saying that it is a little more involved in getting to and from this game than just playing in Auckland any other year)?

What inclusions would people look for? Would you want touring pre-arranged or just options offered in Rotorua and Lake Taupo? Interaction with players before and after the game? Flying into and out Rotorua (Sat/Tues with Air NZ) and Auckland (daily) are our airport options.

Once I have a general idea I can go off and get the packages made up in conjunction with the club and release them to the market for bookings.

For any on here who are also Corporate Sponsors, we are doing the arrangements for that trip as well so I would also be interested in hearing what you would like in your package.

If you don’t want to make it public, please PM me.

PS: For anyone who is wondering why does Wendy Wu Tours sell into NZ – we don’t we operate tours in China, Indochina and India but our GSA partner office in NZ is also a ground operator for NZ inbound so we do have the means and expertise.

Cheers Adam

Sharks Adopt Great Lake Taupo As Home In NZ

Sharks Adopt Great Lake Taupo As Home In NZ
20/12/2010 10:19:16 AM

The National Rugby League will head to Great Lake Taupo, New Zealand, when the Hisense Cronulla Sharks host the Vodafone Warriors at Owen Delaney Park on Sunday April 3rd at 2pm local time.

The Sunday afternoon blockbuster is part of the Sharks three-year commitment to the region, which is the official Events Capital of the World for a population under 100,000, and will feature a full week of events leading into the match and a family festival at the ground on match day.

Sharks General Manager Commercial Peter Beaumont says the decision to play matches in Taupo is about expanding the Sharks brand and giving local rugby league fans the opportunity to witness an NRL game.

“It will be a great way for us to expand the Sharks brand and supporter base in New Zealand, as well as a great opportunity for the local fans to enjoy a game of Rugby League in a region where they don’t usually get the chance,” Beaumont said.

“Taking the Warriors to a different community in their country will also be a big bonus for the NRL.”

Tickets are now on sale for the match with the Sydney-based club to stay in Taupo for one week to promote the game, which will include school visits, open training sessions and a dinner function with guest speakers.

NRL Chief Operating Officer, Graham Annesley, and a group of Sharks representatives, including Beaumont, Chairman Damian Irvine and Sharks immortal David Peachey visited the ground earlier in the year.

Peachey has since relocated his family to Taupo to assist in making this a very special and exciting event for both the Sharks and the local community.

The Taupo region will open it’s doors to the club, sponsors and travelling supporters and show off all the region has to offer Australian tourists with direct international flights into Rotorua opening the area up to Australian visitors.

“The Sharks have always had a strong tie with the New Zealand community and it’s a great way to celebrate that connection in a local community environment,” Beaumont said.

“It will be a great trip for holidaying fans and there will be plenty of appearances and opportunities for them to take advantage of.”

To purchase tickets to the match please visit www.ticketek.co.nz
