Hisense Sharks coach Shane Flanagan is convinced his side can end the season turning their narrow defeats into victories, starting with Saturday night's clash against the Warriors at Toyota Stadium.
Since taking over the coaching reins from Ricky Stuart two weeks ago, Flanagan has watched his team push the Raiders and Tigers all the way, only to come up short by seven and two points respectively.
It continues a trend that has hampered the club for most of the season of pushing opposition teams close without being able to get over the line often enough.
But as the season approaches the final few rounds Flanagan is confident luck is about to change for his troops.
"I feel for them (the players)," Flanagan said.
"They've battered their bodies for 21 rounds and haven’t got a lot of reward."
"But they are going to get some in the next couple of weeks, I'm sure of it."
Asked what he wanted from his side for the remainder of the season, the Sharks boss said it was more than about just about being competitive.
"We talked about getting some respect back," Flanagan said.
"But we went out to win it (on Saturday night against the Tigers) and we didn’t and we're very disappointed with that."
"Every week we are going out to win football games, not just compete."
"We could have and should have won (last Saturday night)."
But attention has quickly moved to the Warriors clash with Flanagan has naming an unchanged line-up for Saturday night's encounter.
"The Warriors will be an extremely tough side to play, especially coming off a loss."
"They will be pumped up and very physical... and with a top eight spot in their sights, I'm sure they will be up for a big game."
Scott Porter will continue to partner skipper Trent Barrett in the halves although half-back Tim Smith has been called into the squad on an extended bench.
The Warriors have made one change to their side with Joel Moon retuning in the centres, allowing Lewis Brown to revert to his natural position in the back-row.
Ivan Cleary's side are clinging on to eighth spot on the NRL ladder and will need a victory to keep their hopes of the finals alive following their loss to the Gold Coast last weekend.
