If Barba wants to start and play the full 80 at the back then I agree with dropping Gordon and bring Toops in.

Not only does Toops eat some meters with strong runs, but he's also an attacking weapon with his offloads.
considering the type of injury Toops is recovering from there is no way I'd throw him straight back into first grade, needs at least a few weeks in nsw cup to get his tacking confidence back

Not sure if Barba should start at fullback this week being at belmore and all. The jeering from the crowd would make or brake his confidence. Bring him on after 30 and hopefully he can spark something and shut the crowd up.
do crowds not jeer after the 30 minute mark?

You'd have to think toops would have had gal, fifita, feki etc running flat chat at him at training to test his tackling out.

My thoughts as well. My only concern would be match fitness. With Barba on the bench that could limit us to 2 fit forwards and a shakey one in Toops. Maybe just a week in reggies to see where he is at.

Other thing is the way flanno uses the bench. The 3rd forward is lucky to get 15 minutes on the field so surely he'd be ok fitness wise.

Yeah but the only bloke smart enough to handle it will be in the coaches box when most of it goes down. Reynolds, Klemmer and Liccha are ripe for the picking.

Mick has been pulling the same **** his whole career with a pretty good success rate.

Define 'success' what does it actually achieve for us? I love his passion and competitiveness but only the ****ty teams/players will by into the niggle and get distracted by the menace to the determinant of their own game. It can have the opposite effect by firing up the opposition.
Personally I would almost prefer he just cut out the niggle bs and focus on being the excellent player he is for our team. Upset em on the scoreboard, not in the ruck

i think its more of a case that if we win we prove ourselves as worthy of top 8 .... we are so far off the top 4 in terms of roster and quality i wouldn't get too excited..

dogs always tough and seem to be able to out work our forward pack most times... our kicking game will be "key" for us as without good field position it could get ugly..

Not throwing away the Titans and Warriors games would have us in the top 4 - strange game this NRL. We can handle ourselves against Roosters, Bunnies, Broncs ect. Melbourne have our measure though and granted it's all a different kettle of fish in the finals

Great news, if he is ready he has to come in for Boogy. I think we need the size of D fifita this week and I think Boogy has been a bit quite of late.

Or does flanno grow a set and drop gordon put barba to fullback and tupou comes onto the bench? Never in a million years but its the best move he could make.

Boogs had his best game against the Merge just 2 weeks ago. He was hardly given minutes against the Raiders
As for Toops being named on the extended bench I would suggest this is more of a courtesy out of respect to Toops that he is close to returning to the team, not something to suggest he would seriously be played

Taga named as starting prop?? surely we play him from the bench & Prior starts

the use of the bench on Saturday was weird, david fifita played 8 minutes, buks 11 and prior 23
As soon as Fifita went off we lost our way. Being as tight as it was I'm glad those guys didn't get much of a run. No way I would of had Gal, Lewis, Graham or Fifita coming off if they didn't need to - they were having blinders

I think he's good at getting under the opposition's skin - I don't think there is a stat or anything that could measure it so just opinion.

I think Reynolds definately fits the bill for '****ty player buying into the niggle and getting distracted'.

Scoreboard obviously where it all matters and I think Mick knows who to target and how far to push it. Its part of his game and its going nowhere.

Gallen needed to come off, he was hunched over leaning against the posts with 20 to go. It's only a matter of time till his tired lazy defence costs us again like it did in round 1.

fair enough caps, I think the niggle has it's place if not over used, but it's probs fans and media putting so much overemphasis on it as part of Ennis game anyways. Gallen has cut it out so I guess Ennis can fill the void lol

Ennis doesn't go hard enough. I want to see him kick Kasiano in the shin then run and hide behind Taga, Tommy Bishop style.

Have a feeling that Robson will be overwhelmed by the crowd or game like he was when we played against the Dragons at Jubilee. He will leave Bird on his own and the desperate plays will start.

As horrible player Robson is, if he doesn't keep his focus the whole team usually collapses. Which is ****.

****in hell i agree with you

i would love him to host a league show

I'd be happy for him to replace Kent of 360.

Ikin and Ennis together talking together footy would be outstanding.

Also, has anyone else warmed up to Gasnier? When he first started appearing on talk shows he could hardly string a sentence together (probably due to his inexperience in media) but nowadays I actually like his input.

Gasnier is a classic example why players shouldn't go straight into the TV profession without any media background. I'm definitely starting to warm to him, after a few years of thinking him being the most cringe and difficult to listen to.

Im actually warming to him as well. I have also been saying for a while that i think Anasta has the goods in the media as well. Really like his input and he can have a laugh without being a ********.

Knows his **** too
