If Smith and Gal dont play, IMO we get smoked. No offence to their replacements (not Graham) but they dont cut the mustard
NSW Cup play on Saturday arvo away. How Sharks line up there should be a fair guage as to who is likely to be playing 1sts. I can't make it but they play Wests which if they're fair dink should be a try fest. Can Taga get a hat trick?

Disagree did you see Canberras form on the weekend, they are absolutely woeful. Without Gal & Jez we have matched it with Roosters & St Merge. We have no excuse not get the goods at home over a terrible Raiders team. I'm not sure why people around here are at panick stations.

Woeful yes, but still put 26 points in to still lose. I know we can have solid defence, but in games where we miss guys like Gal and Smiths defence, its not gunna be hard to have teams crossing our line. If we cant hold em out, we cant match em for points

I should have mentioned that the Titans defense was also terrible and they clocked off with 10 mins to go. All the raiders points came late in the game mate. If ever there is a game we should win without Gal & Jez it is this one. We held the roosters and merge to respectable points tallys without Gal & Jez... If we stick to our guns and keep completion rates high and errors low we should be finding the line more than them.

I laughed at this. We matched it with 2 teams outside of the 8 who have played next to horrible all year? we should have smashed both sides with or without gal and jez if we even want to stand a chance in the finals.
this game is a massive danger if we dont defend carefully.

Squiddy check the score from our game against Raiders earlier in the year. Not only did we win but we scored a bunch of points. Not saying this will be a cake walk but on the other hand I am not stressing about this one.

You don't give our defense enough credit. I think our centres in particular are defending much better than earlier in the season and years gone by. Wings stil suss but honestly mate Raiders are rubbish. Maybe they will get a try or 2 through spreading it out to Furgo or maybe their halves create something but they should leak plenty more than us through the game.

Our defense is great for the most part but if a team throws the ball around we are in trouble - our centres keep backing off and allowing too much space . I was more confident last week than I am this week and we are at home .
As for leaking points - yes they might but we still have to come up with something to score

That doesn't mean they'll be terrible on Sunday. They are the sort of team that can beat most teams on their day, even if they only have a 'day' every two months. Their attack is capable of piling on the points in a short period of time. Yes their defence is ordinary but so is our attack.
I'm not expecting this to be easy at all, how many easy games do we have? I'm not panicking but I'm certainly not all that confident either.

I laugh at your suggestion of smashing teams. That is just not in us at the moment so I no longer have that expectation. St george are one of the best defensive teams despite being outside the 8 and Roosters showed atypical intesity against us. We should have got wins in those games and that would have been a massive result for us without Gal & Jez. I can see what you mean in regards to proving our worth for the finals but this rumble tumble team has done well to get this far. This team is no where near ready to challenge for the title and we don't have the right mix of personal either for the job.
Yes their are things we want from this team but then there is what they are capable of. Unfortunatly we still have a grind em out type style that I doubt wil be going away until our attack gets it together and yes I am looking at Robbo, Carney, Flanno.

re challenge for the title, sad but true, things would have to align for us for 2-4 games in a row in the finals for us to win it with current squad plus the other team(s) to stuff up big time or get a injury to a dominant player early in the game for us to go on & win in a boilover.
Its not impossible for all of this to happen although highly unlikely, atleast we can now see light at the end of the tunnel, come 2013 we will have one of the better rosters in the comp.

Yup a brave Sharks fan would suggest we won't struggle in the finals. I just can't see it from a team with essentially a NSW Cup backline. It's going to be great experience and will let us build towards 2013.
But if by chance we do go onto ultimate success in 2012 well that will do nicely too
