I have only learned what I know from observation, I stopped playing in under 13's and have never read any books on league. So thanks for that.

I don't say anything with any kind of authority, just comment on what I notice in games.

I've only really been properly watching RL to the point where I pick up on the finer details since 2009, when I got foxtel for the first time. So I'm still learning heaps all the time.

oh absoloutly mate, its amazing what peopel pick up, and the way they learn things!

i was watching the sharks on the weekend and my gf whos been wtaching footy for 2 years and still learning goes to me , "how come the sharks dont move up like other teams in defence and how come they only send one guy without help in the hitups and my favourite one, "that robson guy cant do long kicks, he can only do short ones" she says

haha shes still learning and she can pick things up like that! just wish Flanno could see it too haha

I don't usually get too angry after a loss but that was just bull****!

We played with no heart, in front of a good home crowd in the cold. Toops, fifita and taufua tried but the rest of the teams performance was just uninspiring.

The thing that annoys me the most is that todd didn't take any control over our long kicking game, robbo was taking the majority of the long kicks and we all know he can only kick short, todd is one of the best kickers in the game. We also kept kicking across field when we were actually attacking the line, what worked for us last time we played them? Grubbers!!!!

One more thing. We are a big chance of missing the finals all together and I would be shattered! We can't win without both of gal and jez.

Couldn't get to the game, couldn't even watch it live which as it turned out was a good thing, I did record it but have since deleted it as I didn't want to put myself through the pain of watching it, heard heaps of reports which were all bad, I don't think match analysis will be fun for the boys this week, hopefully this type of performance ends up helping in the long run, maybe we had a case of believing the hype in the media about us to much.

Just finished watching the replay. IMO bagging individuals out of this is a bit off. The team performance was just bad. I also think that picking on our centres' and wingers' defense is just plain wrong. Wright/Frizzell had some scary moments (but no points scored) filling in arfter Pom went off, but every other try or break was on the fringe. Defensively Williams and Pomeroy were spot on, and Best had one missed tackle which was on a hit-up, but was perfect when defending on his edge.

By the clock:

Try#1: right edge (defense too compressed on the goal-line: Carney/Bukuya/Graham; can't blame them. If they aren't compressed the Raiders score on the previous tackle)
Try#2: bomb
McCrone Break: left edge (Best falls off and allows Papalli offload; Carney tries to cover with a lazy arm-grab; De Gois could have chased harder from inside)
Try#3: left edge (Graham comes out of the line; De Gois could have chased harder from inside; Robson no chance)
Croker Break: right (Carney comes running out of the line and falls over )
Try#4: left edge (Graham misread; Robson no chance)
Try#5: intercept
Try#6: kick

Everyone's bagging Carney's defensive work, but I will point out that while he had 2 shockers, points were not scored from either play.

I will add is that there are a few blokes who put in good performances:

Gibbs was very good - especially in the first 20 minutes
Tupou was dangerous every time he touched and also made a million tackles
Wright was safe as usual when at FB (yeah - he pushed a pass but at the back he was good). You can't blame the FB in a game like that. If anything Wright's work saved points in the first half.

Those are all fair points, and if you're praising Pomeroy's defence then there's definitely no bias there haha.

He was playing with a groin injury apparently.

only criticism i have of pomeroy and all sharks backline is their lateral movement in defence, slide defence is rubbish at the sharks

teams run around our centres cos they have no accelleration to get to the attacking player, i see it week in week out, were always caught running sideways and were too slow or too poorly positioned to defend there.

i dont see us being able to push for the GF next year if we dont buy 1 to 2 more backs, even with the aquisition of Gordon
