9 CRONULLA (10) 5-9

The first of only two movers on an otherwise very stable rankings list this week. If someone had told you a month ago that the Sharks would be ranked ahead of the Broncos by now, you would have said they were mad. But the form backs it up.

Langer tells young Hunt to stay positive

Shattered young Brisbane halfback Ben Hunt has been urged by of one of the game's best to forget about his unhappy NRL debut against the Sharks.

Former Brisbane, Queensland and Australian halfback Allan Langer, who watched the talented 19-year-old self-destruct under pressure against Cronulla on Monday night, said Hunt had to stay positive and not dwell on his poor debut.

"It would have been a hard pill for young Ben to swallow but I'm sure he'll go back with Ivan (Henjak) and look at his game and talk about how he can go forward," said Langer, who is an assistant coach with Brisbane.

"He's just got to stay positive. He can't dwell on it too much.

"We know inside he's got the football ability in him.

"He was probably more disappointed in himself and he's got to show the quality skills we know he's got and come back bigger and better next time.

"He's definitely got a lot of potential and he's already had a lot of raps."

Hunt spilled a ball from the kick-off, had an air swing at a grubber kick which led to a try and also kicked the ball out on the full during his nervous debut.

Langer said Hunt had to go back to the under-20s competition and play positively and work extra-hard on his game.

"He can't dwell on it, that game has gone, there's no point worrying about it.

"It's one bad game, it's not the end of the world.

"He's got to work hard on his game so that when he gets the opportunity come along again he is playing well enough to get another crack at it."

Langer said Brisbane's drastic loss of form was a real concern and a challenge for the club to overcome during its testing Origin period.

Another loss to Parramatta would dump Brisbane from the top eight and further chip away at their confidence.
