FORM GUIDE

Sharks: WLLLLLLLBLLWW
Both teams are enjoying rare winning streaks, with the Raiders enjoying comfortable wins over the Warriors and Rabbitohs before last week’s bye while the Sharks beat Parramatta and the Warriors in the last fortnight.
Canberra five-eighth Terry Campese rejoins the side after his first taste of State of Origin football, and will enjoy the chance to control a game again after an underwhelming debut for the Blues.
The Sharks meanwhile have struggled with yet more bad news off the field, this time with club CEO Tony Zappia in trouble, but can at least be confident that the second-half of their season cannot be any much than their first.
On last week’s evidence Cronulla do have plenty to look forward to in the future, with young fullback Nathan Stapleton and rookie halfback Scott Porter both outstanding.
KEY MATCH UP
Terry Campese v Trent Barrett
Campese just about carried the Raiders into the finals on his own last year, and has again been a standout for the Green Machine this season before being put in place by the superstar Queenslanders.
He will be all the better for his Origin experience, and will welcome the return to the slower pace of regular NRL football this week.
Barrett has taken on the captaincy at Cronulla and led from the front last week, laying on a try go with a 40/20 kick and three tackle breaks.
His leadership and experience at the club will be all the more important alongside rookie Porter, and if the pair can continue to impress the Sharks could well still end their horror season on a bright note.
PUNTERS GUIDE
Head to head: Raiders $1.36; Sharks $3.00
The Raiders love these winter months when the temperatures drop and rival teams really start to struggle at the chilly Canberra Stadium.
They’ve been in terrific form of late, and so long as the week off doesn’t kill off their momentum they should be able to handle the improving Sharks. Canberra by 12.
