whats the point of these threads when there is a general discussion thread?

Pretty obvious I thought.
The idea behind it is to have a game day thread specific for the rest of the round. We have one specifically dedicated to the Sharks game and rightly so. This is Somewhere to post comments on the remaining games (as the title suggests) Leaving the general discussion thread for “general discussion”.

“General” could mean anything. Does not refer to games.
Could also mean “rumours, the development, players, origin, new signings” etc but we have specific threads for all of those.
