I'm not going to bother reading through posts as I assume there is alot of "we are ****, sack everyone" going on.

Obviously it was a dissapointing game but I think we can take comfort in knowing we won the second half and kept them tryless. It will only make us hungrier in the upcoming games. Obviously we were never going to score many points with the non existant creativity in the halves but the team will take confidence in knowing we can win if we just grind it out. and 2 tries will be enough against most teams if we defend to our potential.

- Graham just doesn't know what to do with the ball in hand, he always waits, doesn't pass it and then takes the line on. It's completely identical to last season. We need to play matty wright or even jmo in the 6 jumper next time carney is out. Having graham in the backrow with the other halves makes us more dangerous.
- unfortunately taga has lost his spot imo
- our props did their job. gibbs and taufua were great.
- the backrow was solid with the exception of taga. Friz looked like a handful, boogie did well considering the difference in ball he get's to when todd is there. Jez was just amazing.
- halves just didn't have any creativity.
- degois and morris were solid without standing out
- centres played ok considering the ball they got.
- back 3 were the same as usual, not standouts, brought the ball back well but nothing else.

I'm with you Josh, i'm not gonna read thru all the **** either, cause i know what will be there. So we lost, big ****, we were never going to win every game. I'm happy for the improvement i've seen in this team so far this season. In previous years if we were down 24 blot at half-time, the end result would have been a bloodbath, minimum 40+. At least we have shown character and not thrown the in the towel. Remember last year we were in a fight for the wooden spoon all season, right from the beginning. Don't all true Sharks fans feel better about the way things are going? I know i do...

Exactly, I forgot to mention that but last season that is a 40 point loss. We still have the self belief.

Except that Wright was the worst I've ever seen him play.

And yes, never take Wade out of the back row again & never, ever at 5/8.

i dont get why they shift wright from fullback
its clear that wright has improved since playing at fullback and always lacks involvement when on the wing

Ike's a better fullback, but they swapped at the worst possible time as he would have been handy on that wing about a minute after he moved.

That's what I'm saying, then again I dont care if stapo or Ike plays fullback. But wrights lack of pace is hurting us bad.

First time on this thread since Monday arvo. Managed a guest spot in the Chairmans Box so being in some Sharks threads, was getting frowned upon all night. Would have loved to have stuck it to a few of them in a subtle way, yet not to be. Yet to watch a replay of the game.

So, bye, Parra, Titans. Obviously outcome of tonight will determine what the halves pairing should be for Parra. I'll leave it with Flanno to come up with a plan to change around the last performance otherwise both Parra & Titans will do us. Plenty said on here about Graham, yet I think Sharks just looked flat from the get go, Dogs wanted it more. Sharks had opportunities in attack yet Dogs largely controlled the game. Think it was a bit like Sharks had played their GF against Storm.

I actually thought Morris lifted the tempo a bit when he came on. As a senior player I think he's an option to help steer play around in Carney's absence.

I questioned Wright's selection in 1st grade, yet earnt his fullback spot with some good performances. I'm lost why he is moved to wing etc.

I don't understand your logic there mate. (baanya)

the theory is called Occam's razor mate... It is a principle urging one to select among competing hypotheses that which makes the fewest assumptions and thereby offers the simplest explanation of the effect.

... for me the obvious choice was wade at 6 due to a number of factors like he was 6 last yr.. probably trained as a 6 most of the pre season and most of the guys had played with wade at 6 last year...

so i think Flanno went with the most obvious decision which had the fewest unknowns ....however post game i am sure flanno is deeply thinking about a different no6 option now that the logical choice didnt really work...

hope that makes sence.

I get where you're coming from and understand Occam's Razor. This isn't really an occurrence of Occam's Razor but will think of it as an analogy.

I would argue that when you have held the Storm to 10 points and just lost an attacking player, you should replace that attacking player with an attacking player from outside the team, such that the minimal amount of changes have been made. That is the simplest solution.

In Flanagan's solution he made three BIG changes to the team.
1 - Moved Graham from edge back rower to 5/8.
2 - Moved Taga to starting edge back rower.
3 - Brought Frizell into the team.

I understand that perhaps people would argue that moving forwards around isn't a big deal and the 5/8 position is way more important, therefore filling that position is really important and the follow on affect of having to shuffle forwards around is unimportant.

However, this is certainly not the case in defence and it showed on the night. Also it's a team sport and changing the team that much showed on the field as well.

So it wasn't really a case of making the most simple change. It actually was a significant structural team change, particularly in defence.

Finally watched the replay last night. Few points I would make:

1) We absolutely pumped them in the 2nd half. So many attacking opportunities. Lack of creativity in the halves cost us.
2) Best has lost all pace and is useless in the air in both defence and attack. Time to retire and bring in younger, fresher legs next season. We need some speed out wide, real speed.
3) Robson had a shocker and without Carney will really struggle. We need a 7 for next season. How we didn't score off the Best break defies belief.
4) The defence in the first half was a disgrace to the Sharks jersey.
5) Graham had a very good game as a back rower, but it cost us having a 6 on the field. The real rugby league supporters saw this coming when the team sheet was named. Flanagan ****ed up. Poor managers decision to play Graham at 6. It should never happen again no matter who is unavailable.
6) Not so bad really, we beat them in the 2nd half after falling asleep for 40 minutes. Flanagan should take some responsibility for the players not being pumped up and being able to shut down the Dogs 2nd phase play. If every fox commentator knew about it before the game, how didn't the Sharks players.
7) Can't wait for Gordon next season, hopefully a fit Stapo and one or two more signings for the backs because our forward pack needs no real change.
8) I would still go all out to sign Boyd Cordner from the Roosters. Should be a priority. Get him before he becomes a superstar.

People are asking if we are a one man team again, except now, instead of Gal its Todd. I'm afraid its a legitimate question after that game.
