After watching the replay I'm not as upset as I originally was.

When it came down to the crunch time and we needed to score I liked our intent and our intensity (mostly brought on from Ennis).

I think we will still win more games than we lose. With more time together the better we will come. With some dtronger inclusions with the likes of either holmes, Gagan or bird we will have more spark in attack and less stability, which is a good thing as it brings a sort of unknown quality to the side that you can't coach against or read easier in defense.

I still have hope for the season now.

Oh and also Ennis needs to be captain. He knows when the side has momentum and when we need to go for the 2 poonts. We were on top and had everything going for us. I think we would have scored in one of those sets.

Ill discipline cost us as well as stupid errors otherwise we would have won that game.

Bring on the Broncos.

One thing I'd like to know is why Gordon took the conversion of Ricky's try about a foot from the sideline when it was scored about 5 metres in. Very strange.

Annoying game but considering some of the stuff that happened and we still almost won (VAL would have scored that try) we can take some positives out of it, apart from having the fumbles I thought A fifita was good, alot better than his brother, not sure why there is such a bias for David but he wasnt as good as Andrew. Barba got two try assist but his confidence was shot once he didn't find touch. Ennis is class, Leutle and Beale actually looked OK when they had ball. Feki was good, Feki is always good.

As it's round one who really knows how good Canberra are going to be this year? Look what Parra did this week... There is no form yet. The cowboys could only score 4 points against the roosters....

IF barbas kick finds touch, Fifita doesn't get called for a knock on that never happened and barba doesn't put such a bad kick up for that inbred yokel Whighton to run 80M we win the game... Those were all vital things they killed us but very fixable. IMO Feki being sent off for 10 was disgusting, wighton needs the absolute **** punched out of him smug little **** and he still got MOM. I loved that hit Feki put on him once he was back on.

It's where he would practice more consistently at training so he would feel more comfortable kicking from there, despite the better angle.

Not sure what has been said in this thread before as I haven't got time to read it , probably a lot of BS , probably a lot of common sense and some comments somewhat in between - all good.

Anyway my brief thoughts

Adam Dykes should be hauled before the coach and asked to explain , our kicking game was atrocious ,we successfully always found them on the full and gave them a 30 metre head start where as they found the grass each time . Memo to Dykes - go back and check Noddy's kicking game - absolutely first class no matter what you thought of the rest of his game , kick long , find the grass and chase hard.

Flanagan , if we dont improve our D line - forget it mate , we have to learn to move up in a line instead of standing and waiting , get some F'n line speed for gawds sake .

Changes - Holmes in for Brown - Bird in for Arona - we need people on the bench who can add value , Brown and Arona are solid but they wont create or set the game on fire and add nothing.

David Fifita - looks a prospect

Andrew Fifita - just play the game mate - stop looking for penalties and for F's sake hold the pill please

Barba - prepared to give him another chance or two before we criticise - kids talented just has to show it .

Interesting and somewhat crucial game coming up Friday night

I didn't think Barba was horrible last night. Yes his first two kicks were shockers. His passing game was solid. He didn't miss a tackle, so it appears that he won't be the defensive liability that Carney was. His running game was nowhere to be seen, but it will come. He was sniffing around Gallen and Fifita a lot. I don't know why there is so much hate for Gordon. I thought he was one of our best. I liked seeing him lay on a cut out pass from chiming in a fullback. He has been working on his attack, which you need to have as a modern day fullback. Too me, the game seemed more about poor coaching than poor play. Clearly having Mitch Brown instead of Holmes is a mistake and the first step toward driving one of our best young talents out of the club. Jack Bird needs to be in centres. I think probably for Luetele (he didn't play bad, but I just don't think he is first grade material. You can't hold onto beating SBW for the rest of your career). I thought Matt Prior was solid with limited game time (He didn't drop the ball.Yay!). Tupou and H were solid off the bench. Rotation was poor. Again coach. It seemed like there was confusion about the game plan. After half time, the hard straight running was very effective. A. Fafita needs to move back to the bench until he tightens up his discipline. Gallen to front row with Prior, two Fifita's as prop rotations to provide huge impact against tiring defence. It seems like Flannagan is spoilt for backrowers. Graham or Lewis are our best nr 13s. Gallen has never been a lock. It baffles me why he even wears nr 13. He plays like a prop, he looks like a prop. When he tries to be a play maker, it looks ugly and usually the play breaks down. Again this is the coach. Tell him he is a prop. He is to run hard and look for an offload. Simple job. Every team knows that Gallen is probably going to take two hit ups in a set. That needs to stop. It is too predictable and defences can line up on him. Anyway, we will see what next week brings.

FMD - find the enter key please.

**** start to season but I saw enough to think we will go alright this year.

Some dodgy calls, i couldnt hear the sound i was in a pub but i'm pretty sure fifita didnt drop it in the play the ball, feki should not have been binned, feki got penalised for tackling in the air when whightons foot had hit the ground, wade was tackled before dropping that sitter, tupou was being held down after he made the tackle and got penalised, and when canberra player took that massive catch and dropped it the sharks player was playing the ball not the man. Thats just what i saw after 6 beers and my 3yo running amok in the pub.... Maybe a replay would change my tune.

Obviously holmes over brown and lewis to come in. I would rather see dave fifita start and bring AF in after 15mins. I think we got the bronx by 10. However i needed the sharks to win by exactly 10 to collect my multi of 35k. NEVER BET ON THE SHARKS!!!!

Just watched in detail
20-24 behind 68th minute last tackle we have raiders short on left, after beale had a
Nice skoot down the tight, arona has the ball wade next to him with Andrew fifs standing outside him, so arona kicks it to waqa on the full... That hurt us more than mitchs fumble...

I think it's harsh to call Arona 'only depth'. I think you'll find that most people on this forum (including myself) had him in their top 17 before the season. Some even had him starting. The guy can play. Don't write him off yet.
