I he played junior rep when the criteria was 'before 15' he played legally and should be entitled to keep playing for Qld even after change as by that stage he is already a Qld rep player.

If he spent 6 months in Qld when he was 12 and then formerly moved here at approx 13 and 10 months thats a bit more grey. I guess you could make a fair argument if you go to one place for 6 months you are living there for 6 months (as opposed to holidaying there or similar) and thus could sneak in on a technicality that way too.

Seems like a clear case of "we assessed his eligibility 8 years ago and he was fine, so we just continued based on that understanding - but the goalposts moved". People are assuming something more sinister.

That being the case, it seems pretty harsh not to make the changes retrospective.
We're not talking about Greg Inglis here either, with all due respect to Ronnie.

Mole published that story. Everything I can see suggests that Mole's suggestion the age was changed from 15 a few years ago is in fact December 2012. Ronaldo was not playing league or was living in Aus then

Well that does make falling under those rules for him more of a stretch...

I know there are rules but there also needs to be some common sense applied.
As a NSW Blues fan I wouldn’t be against Ronnie getting dispensation to play for QLD given the history.
It’s not like he has played for NZ (or in NZ) or any other state other than QLD in his older teenage years (coming over between 13 and 14 yrs old).

Just use your brains NRL/ ARL!
