Didn't think he'd stay. Happy he has. Now the decision will be katoa or Stonestreet.
That would have him in the top 5 paid wingers in the game 9 months ago.How much do we think? 600k a year? More?
Can't see him hanging round in reserve grade for 2 years, on the off chance that Katoa doesn't re-sign.Now the Stonestreet question
I get the sentiment but the same was said about Trindall and Iro. Also talk about how have Berrell and Hiroti not left. Can't see him hanging round in reserve grade for 2 years, on the off chance that Katoa doesn't re-sign.
Possibly. That's a bloody good extension. Surely SS starts looking elsewhere now.
Exactly right.I get the sentiment but the same was said about Trindall and Iro. Also talk about how have Berrell and Hiroti not left.
Certainly not impossible to retain players in your squad.
He may leave but it's no sure thing. If he does, Ronnie and Sione do and will continue to serve us well.
Will overtake Holmes and Rogers to be our best ever wingerThink this guy can beat ET's record if he extends again after 2028.
I reckon Sione gets the tap mid season.Possibly.
Wouldnt blame him but hopefully Fitz has him worded up about where he sees him in the future.
Im a Katoa fan but i think Stonestreets ceiling is much higher.
With a new team coming in a few years, There will be 2 more wingers positions open up in the nrl
Hard to imagine him staying especially with his brother signing down at Melbourne, but stranger things have happened.. building a great club culture headed up by Fitzy. May not be perfect but quality players want to play for him! Can't see him hanging round in reserve grade for 2 years, on the off chance that Katoa doesn't re-sign.

Back line locked in for years to come, Ronnie staying is a huge boost!
Very true on this one, would be nice to get a one year extension then evaluate again come end of the seasonIsn't really a guaranteed spot for him there though, 2 international incumbents, would basically be moving states for the same situation.
I'm trying to think of any teams desperate for a wing right now and can't think of many that look appealing.
Parra the only one that kind of worries me but you'd probably want a look at them under ryles before signing. Plus brown situation.
Over to you SamuelSione Katoa
Quietly spoken, yet known for his spectacular try finishes, Sharks winger and Tongan international Sione Katoa has signed a three-year contract extension with the Cronulla club. Already secured for the current season, Katoa will now remain in Sharks colours through until at least the end of 2026.
That's a long time to wait IF he can't dispace Sione
I remember a quote from Bellamy maybe year before last in regards to resting players and he said he prefers to rest them during the week and not the game as that’s more the area players can get fatigued and take advantage of a rest, not just skipping a game.I’d like to see a bit more rotation and rest guys
Hopefully we are in a position to do this and not having to play our best 17 every week.
Obviously want the team playing together and forming combinations.
But what I’m talking about is timing a run. Using our guys in a way not to burn them out.
Last year we were pretty banged up in our outside backs. Katoa and Ramien in particular.
It’s a long year if SS can play 10 games in between resting Ronnie and Katoa. He may want that starting role but we have seen lately other bide their time and play the system.
To be fair though, the three SE QLD teams have some of the strongest back lines around, may have been a different story if there was an obvious gap. That’s a long time for a bloke desperate to get back to Brisbane.
