Told ya they are a bunch of pussies. They lost the match with missed tackles that led to 2 quick tries. Stop falling for dummy's for crying out loud..... unbelievable. hope this curse breaks soon. I really do.

I have supported the Sharks for nearly 15 yrs and I have read the forums over the past two or so weeks and I thought it was about time that I also have a say. Firstly, I find that it is very depressing that our great club has hit so many unfortunate hurdles, but I think we supporters should stick by our team. Having said that, I went out to Penrith with a few mates and we were very optimistic about winning tonight. After the game the only thing we could speak about was how soft our front rowers were (apart from Douglas). Rugby league is about intimidation and all of the good sides in the NRL do this through their big men. Douglas can not do this by himself, he needs the other big boppers to get in and do the hard yards. If we can not dominate the middle of the field, it doesn't matter how fast our backline is. To win games our forwards need to toughen up and take control of the game. Isn't that why they are referred to as ''the engine room?'' I've read some threads about Verlinden and watched him on Fox against the Central Coast Storm, he was outstanding. And what about Millington who is aslo playing good football. Come on Sticky makes some changes against The Dragons or their forwards will kill us.

And to think, it was just 12 months ago we had the reputation of bieng the most dominant foward pack in the game :(

yeah but u could tell the moment the ball left his hand he knew what he had done immeaditly he put his hands on his hand. It was a brain snap that proved costley i knew whoever called score first would have a massive phsycological boost biecause it was a massive arm wrestle for the first 20 minutes. Last year we loved the arm wrestle we were aggresive tenachous now it's seem to be all gone! but in saying that I STILL HAVE HOPE that we can still sneak in to the 8. And once your in the 8 it's a whole diffrent ball game.

gallen knew what he did wrong as soon as the pass left his hands. Otherwise it was another strong performance by the captain.
Toops had his best game of the year he ran the ball more which was good, look threatinig every time he had the ball and scored two tries.
Barret showed last night he needs to run the football more, cause when he does he is dangerous.
Also Fergo had a great game looked really dangerous when was given room to move on the wing.

On the game we were close but wasnt good enough, hopefully we can turn it around against the dragons.

I know this might be a touch off topic but when i pulled yesterday in the carpark right next to us was corey houghes and with him was Brett Seymour and Misis Taluapapa. Corey looked like he was tearing up, Seymour had this dissapointed look on his face and Misi Looked dejected probabley cause he can't get a start (which i think he should) Then we went to the lights and i saw a bus Full of cssc supporters and i thought the bus was going to break they were ballistic and it put a smile on the sharks players faces. Then when i went through the gate i saw Grant Millington and David Simmons. Simmons looked normal but Millo Looked like he wanted to play and i fill very sorry for him because he deserves a shot. And then i got my seat on the hill and my mates bagged me all game about where the sharks are coming on the ladder and the fact that we have now lossed 8 in a row. Oh well i say bring on the dragqueens nexy satday night i will be there!!!!!!!!!!!

only reason corey was tearing up was because he saw footage of his games this year.

Yep bring on the dragons next week.

We were the better team last night, no doubt. Something like 9 linebreaks is outstanding. Poor finishing and defensive lapses at crucial times cost us. The story of the year really. We are not far off a win and I would love for us to stick it to the Dragons next week.

didnt get to go to the game missed it due to playing footy which we got smashed haha 54-13 HAAHA yes 13! down 24-6 we thought wed go for a field goal haha, anyways well i read up that seymour was on a drinking ah binge on friday or thursday thats why he got dropped, if there true hmm we must take action, look we love our players and all but at the moment the sharks dont need anymore headlines for the comp and for financial reasons, due to that if seymour did go on drinking binge drop him for 2-3 games, he must learn,

Watched the dragons game vs the dogs i must say they dont look really great great! if we can at least defend perhaps 40-50 mins we might win! go ya good thing, i know it looks like we have 0-100% chance making top 8 but mmm well im staying realistic here we still have a zip chance if we win next week, do remember we have a bye right? and well state of origin is coming up so plenty of teams shud have players out!!! come on SHARKIES!!

No respite for embattled Sharks

Cronulla fans must think things can hardly get worse. Let's hope they're right.

Already battling to stay afloat in the face of mounting debt, the Sharks took a big hit when rugby league's latest group sex scandal erupted last week.

Then came Saturday night's 26-22 NRL defeat to Penrith at CUA Stadium, an eighth straight loss which cemented Cronulla's position at the foot of the ladder.

The only way it could possibly get much worse would be total disintegration, a situation not beyond the realms of possibility given the club's perilous financial state.

The club's coffers received another knock this week with reports of a number of sponsors withdrawing their support following the storm of bad publicity over the group sex incident on the club's 2002 pre-season trip to New Zealand.

Few are doing it tougher than skipper Paul Gallen who, as the only current player at the club in 2002, came under intense scrutiny over his knowledge of the Christchurch incident, which he said he took no part in.

The pressure of the week showed on Gallen's face after the Panthers loss, when the Test lock took the blame for yet another defeat.

"It had nothing to do with what happened on the field tonight," Gallen said when asked about how tough the build-up had been.

"I almost shoulder that loss on my own - it wasn't a par performance on my part and yet some of our players had their best games ... blokes like myself can't afford a game like that with the position we're in."

Sharks coach Ricky Stuart defended Gallen, who had gifted Penrith a try with a pass straight to Geoff Daniela who ran away to touch down.

"He does take it hard, he's hard marker on himself ... but if Paul Gallen's not playing in this football team we're getting beaten by a lot more points that what we have been," Stuart said.

"He's one of the most inspirational people I've coached."

On the field, Stuart claimed the Sharks weren't far from nabbing a win.

They certainly played with more flair against the Panthers and were a big show late in the game when Anthony Tupou scored two tries to close the gap to two points against a 12-man Penrith side which had lost skipper Petero Civoniceva to the sin bin.

In the end they paid for the missed opportunities early in the game, particularly the first seven minutes when two clear-cut opportunities went begging.

"Our last pass has cost us so many tries, so many tries. It's just that last pass," Stuart said.

"It's obviously a skill thing but we've recognised it and we're working really hard on those areas.

"But I think when you are down on confidence, when things aren't going your way such as the victories, they just pile up on top of one another and become worse and worse.

"Basically we've lost five games this year where if we could eliminate a soft try and score one ourselves, we would have won those games.

"That's how close we are, yet it doesn't show that on the ladder."

"I just get really despondent and disappointed for the boys because they just bust a gut week in and week out, they're really trying.

"It hurts to be in the position we are in and it hurts to see them hurting."

"I almost shoulder that loss on my own - it wasn't a par performance on my part"......Paul Gallen, Sharks skipper
