Very sad, also special mention for the poor bugger who bowled the ball, he'd be in a dark place right now.

Just goes to show life threatening injuries can happen in all sports and not just contact.

RIP

All of the above, a couple of old sayings which at times is sad but true "life's to short" & "life's not fair" RIP Phil Hughes.

I found out when I read on twitter on my phone. First tweet I saw was Adam Gilchrist's. I just dropped my phone and put my head in my hands for about half a minute. I think we knew that this was the most likely ending to this tragic story, but for the past week, I didn't really believe it. 'He'll be alright, he's getting the best medical treatment, they'll wake him up at the end of the week' I thought. It was one of those 'this can't really happen' moments. The only moment I had doubts was when I saw Clarke, his wife and Justin Langer walking out of the hospital consoling each other. When I saw that, I started to think 'wait a minute'. Then when I found out I was stunned, just didn't seem real. Just feel absolutely gutted for him. Hope his family will be ok.

Another guy I feel gutted for is Sean Abbott. He has to live with this for the rest of his life. Important thing for him is to seek help and take comfort from his mates. There is only one man who's ever going to blame him for this tragedy and it's himself. Just hoping he's got the right voices around him, reminding him it was a tragic accident, nothing more.

Also I hope there are no knee-jerk reactions to change the rules from this accident. This was a one in a million accident, Phil was the unlucky one in a million. I hope the only thing to come of this is a new helmet which also protects the back of your head. I really hope they don't outlaw bouncers, I really think it's not what Phil would of wanted.

Rest in Peace Phil.

A bit late to the party on this one, absolutely shattered by this news.
It's both sad and beautiful that the entire summer will now be about Phil

Just looked up VAD, which is what was the diagnosis very nasty and so rare, still stunned pretty much tops off a very ordinary week burried a 34 year old mate yesterday, who missed seeing his little girl turn 1 by two days... RIP Phil n Dan

Phil had a unique style that was all his own.

The way he found gaps through the offside set him apart.

But it does not seem right to talk about cricket, he has lost his life.

All we can do is say a prayer and hope he rests in peace and hope his family and friends can find a way through this tragedy.

I feel like I have lost a friend, yet never had the honour to meet him.So many people feel the same.

Tragic, shattering news. Was stunned when I heard of his passing, I knew it was serious but expected him to pull through

It is of little comfort, but he went out doing what he loves in front of people who love watching him do it

May you rest in peace Philip Hughes
