And its all well and good to say "she'll be right" come finals time just because we won the comp last year. The differences between the side this season and last are huge, we've lost 2 of our best players for starters and last season we barely had a player out of form for any long period at all.

Take the massive loss of barba and ennis out and then factor in a lot of players are playing nowhere near the level they were at last year - holmes, bird, maloney, prior, chad etc.

She'll be right.

We'll be a well oiled machine come finals time. The game against the Roosters is where we'll be unless we get a few injuries to the likes of Maloney and Val.

If the last few posts are shots at what i wrote, tell me where i went so wrong with what i wrote instead of the typical sniping and smart arse reactions because I'm not being fluffy.

The only thing that fills me with hope is other than the storm I don't see anyone else travelling that well.. so if we find our mojo it's game on... I know it's a ugly but I ain't given up on our season just yet.

No i haven't either but I'm not putting my head in the sand and pretending we're as dominant as last season.

You're right about the storm being the only team that's really looked good all year too.

Mate ive been very critical of us this year, mainly the obvious, ball control and discipline. Thats been poor all year. But melbourne arent even far from us in penalties. Our defence however has been good, all year. We've had 1 (call it 2) spankings. Manly and titans. Both a few days after origin with 4 or 5 backing up. Last nights effort was nothin like any other game we played this year. We stank. Period

What annoys me is how we had set after set on their line for nothing then they have 1 set and score. Frustrating

in the case of last night, its hard to be overly critical of that. their try line was a pond, ours was almost dry. We went at them, and to their credit they defended us well. Moves like bird trying to run around their defence were never on, and him being put into touch showed that. we did go over through Brown, Fifita and Beale all disallowed/not called. The conditions werent ideal in the first half and they took their chances (off our errors). The second half conditions of the field seemed to improve but we seemed lost and they carved us. Hopefully its a little reality check for the boys and they come out firing friday

I think we'll be pretty average for the next couple of games.

Part of yesterday's clunkiness will have been caused by our team not getting much of a chance to train together as a unit for a while. The origin players' heads seemed to be somewhere else yesterday as well and this could have rubbed off on the others. I know other teams have manged this better than us but that's where we are at the moment.

Seggy will take a couple of games to get to full boil. I think we'll be starting to fire properly in 3 or 4 games. Hopefully we jag a few wins in the meantime.

I thought that big pond down their end 1st half was going to help us.. in hindsight may have hurt more than helped.

It got us a lot of ball, but if its slippery for them its slippery for us. What made me most angry was prior and his leg pulls. The 1 in the first half where he pulled Ryan James (i think) leg and got penalised, could see it was gunna be a penalty a mile off. They scored through hurrel the next set

I'm not overly concerned. Many premiership winning sides have a loss of perplexing nature about this time of the season.
