Not only is Ray Hadley a rubbish commentator, he is a stain of a human being. He is just an ex-taxi driver who made his way to the top as a right-wing nutjob appealing to the lowest common denominator. The entire Channel 9 commentary team are a joke. Don't get me started on Ray Warren, he's just as annoying as the rest of them, with his over the top histrionics and inane banter with the other commentators.

The ABC Grandstand commentators do a much better job, in my opinion.

Not a truer word said, Iron. Agree with you 110%.
Despite what many say here, Warren is pathetic. Drives me crazy when he starts wankin' on with 'exotic' pronunciations of players names, and the way he & Gus go off on a tangent during the commentary, ahhhhh!!!!!

Do you realise that you don't have to tap it and run from the 20 when it's a restart?

You can kick for touch, and if you find touch(not on the full), you get possession from there.

That is why it is an optional restart.

I think it has to be a dropkick right?

Agreed entirely. But something tells me some people must like it.

Why else would they keep it up? Ray Warren is very frustrating to listen to, he overpowers the games. Gould should be back on the sideline for a handful of insightful comments occasionally through the game. He must have some football intelligence but it's lost in all the nonsense he talks because he is in the box and feels he has to say something, usually silly stuff to appeal to a handful.

When they're together it's insufferable.

Hadley is in interesting one. Sometimes I've listened to him call on radio and then watched the replay later. It's like he's watching a completely game!

Fittler and Johns have no place whatsoever on a professional commentary team. I am embarrassed by them and I used to embarrassed for them until I realised they weren't aware of their limitations at all.

I've heard people complain about the Fox team but to me they blend in a lot more. Maybe that's the difference?

It's as though Channel 9 have the volume on the refs and crowd way down and the commentators up so high they can't be ignored. With Fox I'm more able to 'zone out' of their commentary and enjoy the game.

Channel 9 commentary is invasive.

There's a lot of love around for Voss at the moment and at the risk of sounding like an all round whinger, I didn't like him much in recent years either. Loved him when he called Commonwealth Bank Cup though.

Having said all that, there's no way I can watch a game of footy with the sound on mute so I'm stuck with them!

When Ray and Gus get their scripted banter on I think of these two, except the muppets are entertaining:

That's Hadley calling the second channel 9 game lol? It does sound like a horse race but I actually prefer him to the garbage Rabs and Gus sometimes go on about, not to mention plugging a sponsor or CH9 show every 5 mins. Hadleys call the action and facts was somewhat refreshing.

I don't think I could say the QLD commentators are ay more bias than the Sydney ones but probably not as dopy, at least on Telle.

I don't mind Hadley getting excited about the action, bit like Bill Laury with the cricket. :D Must admit the Broncos/Souths was an end to end game.

Rabs is the voice of Rugby league.

He isnt paid for expert commentary, thats what guys like Sterlo, Gould, Fittler, Johns, Tallis, Daley, Belcher, Alexander, Lockyer and Lewis are there doing.

Guys like Rabs, and some of them Fox sports twats (and ray hadley) are there to call the action. Rabs can go off on a tangent. But his voice rules. Theres a reason Billy Birmingham does Rabs voice and not Ray Hadley or Phil Gould. Cos he ****ing rules

Correct. He's just your typical shock jock, whipping up hysteria for the benefit of ratings, appealing to the lowest common denominator, providing completely unbalanced opinion disguised as fact. It is rubbish. Much the same as Today Tonight and ACA.

My thoughts exactly. I don't understand why everyone loves rabs. The only guy on the channel 9 team I like is sterlo, can't stand the others.

Can't stand Ray. I remember one day on the Ray Hadley was going on about this convicted pedophile who served 25 years in jail and was released, he was saying he was a danger to the community, that they should "put a coffin outside his house" and essentially breeding hate against this man who had served his time of 25 years according to our legal system. Ray Hadley, then proceeded to play Gary Glitter (a convicted pedophile), therefore giving a pedophile money and assisting him financially through playing the song... Go figure ? 702 ABC Sydney and Triple J for me.

His calling suits Radio. He is way over excited for tv.

When he is calling he calls it quick, but as soon as someone puts a step on or an offload he erupts. It doesnt suit the tv because we can all see whats happening and whether or not its worth getting excited over. Thats where he suits radio. If im listening to the radio, i can't see whats happening. Now if Im a Rabbitohs fan and i hear him getting excited to Inglis caught the ball, id be thinking ' yeah go Inglis, must be doing good' but when we are watching it on tv and see a non event like a side step but have him carrying on like someone is dirty dancing it doesnt match

I listen to his radio show during the week and like the radio show on Saturdays "Dead Set Legends" as for the TV commentary I usually have the volume down anyway so I wouldn't know.
But then again I only watch bits and pieces anyway, unless they ever show a Sharks game.

Whilst Ray Hadley tends to go over the top on some things he isn't wrong about attacking paedophiles. They are scum. A lot of people "serve their time" as you say and then go and re-offend. The level of recidivism in sex offenders is high, they should be locked away forever if they interfere with children or chemically castrated.

As for listening to the ABC and their announcers, why attack Hadley for being right wing when the ABC(radio and televison) is the most left wing biased station ever. All Julia Dullard voters. Bad luck Labor got massacred in Qld, and that is what will happen to Gillard and all her Labor baboons when the time comes.

As for the commentating on ABC David Morrow is good and so is Warren Boland, and always liked Warren Ryan's analysis.

If you hate all the commentators on 9 why don't you turn it off. I love all the people that say they hate Hadley but still keep listening to him both on the radio and TV. Why keep listening if you can't stand it? Makes it hypocritical.

I think you should ring him and tell him what you really think. Would make for great radio.

As for being right wing, he maybe, but I've heard him attack politicians from all parties when I have had occasion to listen to him, which isn't very often. As for being a "stain", I don't know about that? What would make him a "stain" as you suggest? The man is married with kids, is he not? It's easy to make such throw away remarks in an internet forum without any evidence or facts to back such a claim. There are far worse people in society than radio announcers or commentators in my humble opinion. At least he isn't afraid of being part of the politically correct brigade which are a danger to society.

AS for ABC Grandstand, I agree with you, they have the best commentary and no ads. I have rarely listened to Hadley on radio to call a game, however it is definitely the case that he may need to slow his style down a bit for TV.

Facts are that Ray Warren and Ray Hadley were previously both race callers, so I suppose they tend to try and add a bit of excitement to their calls.

Because my enjoyment of league overshadows my annoyance of the commentary. Thought that was pretty simple. No hypocrisy.
