 Hadley is an idiot. I had to turn off channel 9 tonight (Souths v Broncos game) Because of hadley's brown tongue(ing) of lockyer and wally, it was pathetic!!!!!! His commentary is terrible, give me Vossy any day. Warren Smith is really the only decent footy caller around....Futhermore, i 'am of the belief that 9 should have the Friday and Sunday Games taken from them all together when the new tv right's deal is signed???

Naaaa let him call, it's the reverse Gommasal in QLD, totally 1 eyed NSW against bronkoes, with Locky and Lewis next to him having to endure his bias and hugely BORING commentary, how the faaaark did this scumbag ever get to call league is unbelievable, like listening to a 15 km horse race from the owner of the favourite who's cramped up after 5 km's. BUT that's what channel 9 and QLD deserve, keep up the crap work Ray,, you redneck spanker

I ended up putting the tele on mute for the 2nd half. What an absolute tool, they're certainly not used to a call or two going against the poor broncos.

Also I know it's been going on for ever but I couldn't believe they have Fri night game again next week. Had a quick look at the draw & they actually have the next 3 in a row. Someone should be shot!

I absolutely hate him, just seems like an ******* and makes the footy painful to watch. Even gus and rabs are a whole lot easier to listen to.

is he calling a horse race or a footy game? Every time Inglis touched the ball the roof lifted on my house.

most other commentators give an analysis of the game as it's going, Hadley seems to try name and call every player that touches the ball. It's like he is robotic. Completely and utterly boring

Because on the radio noone has the visual aid of seeing whats going on.

On TV we can see the ball being passed, being kicked, breaks being made. But when he is calling it, every motion is a some reason to get excited.

Funny, I was going to start this same thread this morning. I like Hadley, I think he is a great man and enjoy his radio calls but **** he is not good for TV commentary. That was painful listening to him, he doesnt fit, was just bland. Bring back Voss.

Why is it always an optional restart? Is that like making an optional tackle?

And why when calling a game was every player simply called by their last name except Ciriaco Mescia? Used to anoy me massively particularly given he went by the namme Cherry.

I think though he's OK for a short period, like when Macca's sells a Tripple Cheeseburger for a limited time. They are crap, hard to swallow, and hard to back out, yet we still eat a couple.

Do you realise that you don't have to tap it and run from the 20 when it's a restart?

You can kick for touch, and if you find touch(not on the full), you get possession from there.

That is why it is an optional restart.

My mantra is: put your brain into gear and if you can add to what's on the screen then do it, otherwise shut up.

Hadley as a radio commentator is the best league commentator I've heard. But it definitely isn't translating to tv. Not sure if it's because he tries to moderate his style a bit, or because you see things aren't as exciting as he portrays. Maybe also just being the graveyard game takes away from it.

Thanks for the rule clarification mate. That's why I mentioned that it's also optional to make a tackle or not.
You could clarify why Hadley calls the dummy half, the "acting dummy half"? If someone is acting dummy half, who is the real dummy half?
