Just sign an even better centre then, easy
Haha, simple right? Even if there hypothetically was one, who drops out of the pack? Fifita? Well next year Kaufusi will take that spot. We'd have 6 middle spots for Finucane, Hunt, BHU, McInnes, Kaufusi, Talakai, and Williams. Or do you play Sifa on an edge and let Teig go elsewhere for opportunity.

I think our pack will get there, they are just a bit too green at the moment. We are lacking in big game experience, and it shows as we weren't able to up the tempo and intensity. If we can't win it all this year, we really need that prelim or GF birth. Something to really light the fire within the side to push to the next level.
Yeah, when we try and aim up and give it back, we sometimes don't know when to draw the line without discipline becoming a problem. Irony is that it's players like Ramien who get too worked up, that go over the top with head highs.

Couldn't help thinking our big boys were getting blown away by the speed of the Cowboys. They tore us apart through the ruck for a while there. Might have had something to do with the minutes.
It was their gameplan.. keep pressure on us behind the ruck, basically keep up the middle and play/go behind our markers type thing

Maybe we have too many half mongrels?
Here's my completely pointless and arbitrary mongrel count based on nothing because why not.

X = the right amount of mongrel.

We know sharks have too many half mongrels but still not enough mongrel, lets say - BHU, Hunt, Fifita and Dale? This equals 2 total mongrels.

We know the roosters have a good amount of Mongrel, lets say - Lodge, JWH, Radley, then maybe Butcher and TKO as half? This equals 4 total Mongrels.

Who else has Mongrel?
Panthers - Full - JFH, Kikau, Martin, Leinu. Half - Leota = 4.5 Mongrels.
Eels - Full - not sure they have any without Brown, half - RCG, Paulo, Papalii, Matterson, Kaufusi = 2.5 Mongrels.
Souths - Full - Tatola, Burgess. Half - Keaon, Arrow, Sele? = 3.5 Mongrels.
Storm - Full - NAS. Half - Kamikamica, Kaufusi, King, Brom, Smith? = 3.5 Mongrels.
Raiders - Full - Papalii, Tapine, Horsburgh, half - young, whitehead. = 4 mongrels.
Cowboys - Full - Lolo? Half - Cotter, Mclean, Gilbert? = 2.5 Mongrels.

It seems to be pretty widely accepted that Souths and Storm have enough mongrel, and we know the panthers do. So based on this I believe 3.5 Mongrels is enough to satisfy the mongrel/harmen lovers.

Interesting that Para seem capable of stepping up to big games despite their lack of mongrel, and the raiders, although they have the mongrel, maybe it isn't enough to get the job done.

What does this mean for the sharks? Well either someone needs to eat some concrete, cop a few more cte's and become a full mongrel. Or we need to catch that prop we've been chasing for months, assuming he is a full mongrel.

Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk.

Haha love it!

He's not a forward but I reckon Jesse is our biggest mongrel.

Sounds about right, the more mongrel the better. Maybe it’s why Raiders and Roosters can deal with us so easy, like I said last week before the game we haven’t really comes across quality opposition much this year.

This ain’t the time to sit back and congratulate Fitz for coming second because if we go in straight sets it just further shows in reality we are probably the 6th best team in the comp not the second and our draw favoured us and Fitz has plenty of work to do

Unfortunately I think you're right. Except maybe for Andrew, but his mongrel per minute contribution is probably too low to register on this scale

I definitely agree we haven't had enough tough games. I held out hope last week I'd see us come out like the Melbourne of Penrith games but we just didn't. You've got to be good at lots of things to finish high though, and that includes finding a way to win games when you're not going that well or your missing troops. We did that very well this year, Souths, Roosters and Eels didn't. So I think you can still have a better season, without maybe being the better side when it comes to the big game.

In reality though, before the start of the year, no one was really expecting we could be a title threat. We got excited after 6 rounds, then thought it was all falling apart, then won 9/10 or something to finish the year. We are ahead of expectations. With some more experience, and maybe one/two more key pieces we can be a title favourite. I don't think Fitz strikes me as the guy to sit around and rest on his laurels, but I get what he saw in our squad now.
