Someone will have to remember to reactivate this thread at the end of the season to see how close Herb's predictions were. We'll all be fumin' if this fella ends up being the modern day Nostradamus and we didn't get our bets on :D.

Here's a prediction that I do like, taken from a rleague.com article:

"Since 2000 seven round one's have been played (excluding 2007), with 49 games played in all with only one of those games resulting in a draw (Tigers v Brisbane 2000).

In this time 5 teams have had byes in round 1. So what chance does your team have of qualifying for the finals on the back of a round one win, let's take a look.

A staggering 32 of the 48 winners (66.67%) in round one games over the last 7 years have ended up qualifying for the top 8 in that respective year. Meaning that fans of Souths, Newcastle, The Dragons, Manly, Cronulla, New Zealand, The Cowboys and Storm have reason for considerable optimism. This means that these sides have just a 33.33% chance of not being there in September according to these statistics."

Of course, as they say, there are "lies, damned lies, and statistics" but I'm pretty OK with all of this. :D
