I was talking to mate of mine and he reminded me about how in the late 80s if you wanted to find out any informarion about your club you would have to ring a 1300 nuber and there would be a recording on there about new players/coaches/general footy info.Cost about $5-10 bucks in dollar coins.Any one else ring this??

What else was there??

hahaha!

Those 1500 numbers etc really have really died off since the internet. Phone sex just doesn't compare to internet porn.

I can't remmeber how I found things out about the Sharks. Probably just the regular media, Shark attack, Big League and RLW.

I was the same, just what was in the papers, magazines, and what you found out on game day.

I'm talking about the footie by the way.

I don't know. I personally believe both have their place.

As for me, I've been using the internet long as I can remember. One of my first email addressed back in the early part of the 00s was one of those old @sharksfan.com ones.

I remember there used to be a 'Nintendo Help Line' thing where you called up and they'd tell you how to get through a certain part in a game, or give you cheat codes etc hahaha.

Man how good is the Internet? Just thinking back the old school way of doing a lot of things was absolutely horrible.

You can go back to just a few years ago as well and think about life before YouTube.

I dunno about you guys but I'd be lost without YouTube.

Not just internet, what about pay TV?

These days we have Super Saturday and the 230 game on Sunday.

I can remember putting on ABC radio on a saturady night at about 10:00 and getting the Sharks result in the news. Sometimes you would watch the Sunday Footy Show and that was the first time you would get the saturday results.

Also when they used to play most of the games on Sunday Arvo all the coverage you would get was on the radio with around the ground scores.

We really are spoilt these days with every game either on 9 or Fox Sports.

Does anyone remember when on Sunday they used to play those heavily edited games? I think one game went for exactly an hour?

Yeah I remember them. Nearly half of it was taken up by ads too. It was terrible coverage.

Being a Sharks fan in Queensland sometimes you couldn't even find out teh results of Saturday night games. The newspaper up here wouldn't include the late results and sometimes you didn't even find out until Monday. I remember staying up with news radio on waiting for them to mention the score.

Also, on Sundays we used to play footy outside all afternoon with the footy on the radio. We wouldn't really be listening to the call but would freeze and listen in whenver they went around the grounds. That was when we used to have six games all being played on Sunday at 3pm.

I used to sit out in the garage with the old man and listen to the game whenever there was a Sharks game on.

I can remember waiting up until Sports Tonight on a Saturday or Sunday night to get 10 seconds of what happened in the game that day.

Or the score updates on Wide World Of Sports.

**** the old days!

I remember sending a letter to Sierra On-Line in the US to get through some hurdles in those Police Quest and other adventure games.

In rugby league terms, the Monday sports sections in the Sun and Daily Mirror and Daily Telegraph were so awesome before the Internet... provided they sent someone to cover the game :)
