I just assume that because we own the ground, won the comp and we were still running at a loss for the year (if I remember correctly). The development will run dry eventually and judging by our members we are hardly in a position to own an A-league side too, especially as it would take a good few years to generate a following and get decent revenue in.

I don't know much about it at all tbh, how does it work for other sides that dont own their grounds? I think sides like manly, canberra etc have a contract with the council etc that allows them use of the ground. Would think it would work in a similar way, with the A-league side leasing the ground from us. Then the leagues club would use takings from their season to support them also.

The biggest win for us would be double the money going into upgrades and maintenance of the ground which would be a massive drain for us currently. They might be able to afford to drop the price of beer!

They lease them. The other bonus for us would be having a stadium that is multi purpose could get us a better chance at state gov. Funding

How do you figure that?

Purely down to the fact that the club was set to be paid x amount over x years from the developers, not sure of the exact figures. Other than the obvious increase in foot traffic for the club, i didnt think there was any other long term monetary benefits?

Soccer? Buy a ticket on the Titanic - that crap gets demolished by WBBL. Unless they just wanna pay to occupy our ground during summer but bugger any further input from us.

My feelings exactly.

The jury is still out whether the A-League can sustain 2 more teams.

Besides renting our ground of us during the summer, I don't want any other involvement.

I don't think Sydney needs a 3rd team anyway. They can't establish a 3rd team in the south without gutting a big part of Sydney FC's fan base. A big part of their membership is from the Southern part of Sydney. Wollongong would be a better spot.

This is what makes me very wary. I don't know much about the soccer landscape but my suspicion is that most fans have pretty firmly attached themselves to the Wanders or Sydney FC. At the very least I think a team down South would be running a distant third indefinitely, making it a risky proposition.

I agree if they are a member of their respective club, they wouldn't change. The shire is one of the biggest soccer nursery in the Southern Hemisphere, it'll be crazy not to have a team playing out of shire.
I think Sydney is definitely capable in having three teams in Sydney
