Gallen wants out

It does not take a geninius to work out why our best players want out.
Its the F%6ken coach, Why do you think rogers would not come back.
This club is **** house, wake up fellas this is going to get a hole lot worse before it gets better, my mail is Lance will do a sweat heart deal with St goerge all is forgiven typecrap welcome back prodical son. Morale is an all time low and now will sink even lower. remember the season before last when senior players got together and discussed the fact that they where not happy with raper?
And sludge came out and said anyone who did not like stuart could leave.
Well why carn't Stuart be man and leave. Its been going on fors years and he has now bought the worst losing streak in the clubs history.
The other know fact around the team is that the boys will do it for Lam but think Stuart is to Green and way out of his depth. And you ca koss Ricky good bye, He's not as dumb as to come down here and put up with the Pierce familys Crap and Near enough is good enough, as long as my familys got a job cultre

i found out this about 5 weeks ago but didn't say anything cos i spose i didn't want to believe it. parramatta are after him to replace glen morrison. i have a friend in parramatta. this is another reason why we need ricky stuart... to attract the good players. just think of rapers reputation at the moment. what player is gonna wanna come to cronulla if our best player wants out of the club. i am so pisssed off!!! gallen wants to play finals footy and i spose he deserves it. i am very angry at the club

i used to sort of feel sorry for raper but no i will be upset if we don't get ricky stuart. he will change evreything at the club!!!

The parra connection makes sense I guess, after all that is where he came from in the first place. But having said that, I have my doubts that their squad is any stronger than ours, at least on paper, so if he really wants to play finals footy I'm not convinced he would have a better chance of doing that at parra. Although maybe now that Brian Smith is gone they will have a better chance of attracting players as Smith regularly tops the list of "coach you would least like to play for" in the players polls (yes he always beats Stuart Raper to that title!)

it is not Rocket sceine Woody, why would he want to stay around for this crap, he is representative player who wants and deserves to play in a better performing team. I would if I was him.

Lets hope it is a smoke screen thing so that they have the reason to punt Raper even more.Like they need it.

If they let Gallen go, I am seriously changing clubs, I hate to do it let alone say it, but enough is enough.

It would be ill of anyone to be unsympathetic towards Gallen's plight and be critical of his desire to play semi final football. One would hope that all our players feel this way and do feel miserable and embarrassed at the outcome of this season. Whilst there have been rumours of this for some time the fact that the Sharks board have been lethargic towards acting in a defined manner towards resolving the issues of the year probably has led Gallen to believe that nothing will be done.

We need drastic and decisive action and if Ricky Stuart is offering his services, we as a club would be foolish to ignore this opportrunity. No coach comes without luggage but when looking at the Sharks deficiencies this year, Ricky Stuart's more disciplined outlook and Australian coaching role would far outweigh his negatives. Remember part of Ricky's downfall at Easts was a scheming former coach of Easts who is in the ear of Politis.

Now the mail is that Manly is where he could be headed, just when we thought things could not get any worse...

It’s not about losing a good player, a good club can loose a good player but replace with another. its about reputation if our players keep leaving before their contact is up then other players wouldn’t want to come to the club. Even though I think it has already begun. The sharks will become the next souths (no players wanting to play for the club) if changes are not made and made fast.
At least souths had a history before they were at the bottom; all we can say is that we came close. Will our dreams ever come true?

One team will rise another will fall.
We have waited long enough.

Well this was to be expected. This is probably a contributing factor to the bull**** signings for 2007, no one wanted to come to Cronulla, they'd rather take their chances elsewhere.

I think the Sharks need to start setting some examples and start getting tough, one good way would be to deny Gallen a release. Even if he plays PL for 2007.

But most certainly this has to be a massive wake up call and Raper needs the punt. I'll be mystified if this review that going on doesn't show this. Obviously when the reviewers talk to players, especially Gallen, will name Raper as the problem.

well paul gallen timed it perfectly. i reckon that raper is gone for sure now. it said in the article that there is no way we are letting him go and that we are close to terms with stuart

gallen also wanted out last year aswell, but he wasnt as high profile back then, so it didnt make the papers, the worst thing for us was him geting a blues jumper,(big head). so bugger him, make stay or i would send him off, if we could get sieonie falmaweena(spelling bad i know).
gallen is not a big bloke. but makes up for it.
im not a ricky fan but maybe we need him to get the big name players

not in the shire anymore :(
yeah, there was a report on the news that he, his manager and pierce had a crisis talk tonight, and he's agreed to stay on for the '07 season.

Didn't this happen with Adam Dykes about this time last year??? He threatened to walk out, there was a crisis meeting, and he stayed?

I live for the Sharks
Some food for thought

I love Brett Kimmorley i think hes a quality halfback so this is in no way an attack on the guy.

I have two rumours which i heard from a fairly reliable source, as i said (fairly reliable, how much truth is yet to be seen)

Gallen has no problems with Sharks management or Stuart Raper, yes he does want to play finals football but his main issue is a problem with Kimmorley.................

And Ricky Stuart nearly put pen to paper for the coaching role but has declined the offer due to the fact the club would not release Kimmorley, they were the conditions he gave for his signature but our pig headed stubborn board again said hey we run this show not you....................

Maan That's Fk'd if any of that is true. I can't imagine it being the case though really? I mean if the coach has a problem with a player down to PL they go.

Give Gallen Captaincy :D

Shireboy: Nope, this happend with Gallen last year. They released Dykes however his deal with Souths fell through so he came back.

Mate when you are being offered an extra 80k a year at another club and your not happy where you are, makes it hard to want to stay.

He is staying on for next season but our chances of keeping him after that don't seem good, unless there is a dramatic turnaround in on-field performances. We cannot afford to lose players of Gallen's calibre and workrate and need to do whatever it takes to hold on to him, whether it be a contract upgrade or handing him the captaincy as Kelpie suggested; but he is a thorough professional and ultimately what is important to the bloke is playing in a winning side.

I agree with you, he is a critical part of the club and the future and the culture. We need him and players like him, our poor results next year will guarantee their departure.
