From a rival supporters view i could never work out what Chris Anderson ever bought to the club.
It was nothing more than a knee jerk reaction thinking that a premiership winning coach would automatically bring a premiership when he offered nothing.

I think alot of people are far too hard on Chris Anderson without knowing the full story behind what was actually behind some of the decisions he made during his time at Cronulla. I was in fairly close proximity to the team and staff during this period and can tell you there was alot more to it than met the eye.

He took Cronulla to one game short of a GF in his first (or was it second?) year from memory and the team's overall performance whilst he was at the healm was pretty good. He alos insituted alot of good player welfare initiative during his time at the Club, like making players get a part time job or attend TAFE in their free time. He brought some great players to the Club (and yes, some bad). Many of you are still filthy on him for getting rid of Campbell but, without going into details, I can assure you, Preston only had himself to blame for that.

Having said that, I was not a fan of evrything he did. I was shattered when he got rid of Treister and Graham, two of our most loyal clubmen.

So, whilst he may not have been our greatest coach ever, I think he is along way from being the worst.

By the way, Zappia did far more damage to the Club in one year than Anderson ever did.

Scarface, when you said "say hello to my little friend" you weren't referring to your tool were you? After that comment, it is obvious you can't keep your hand off it

Ben Ross instantly comes to mind. A quick browse of his Wiki page says he played 42 games for us in 4 seasons, at $400,000 a season, so roughly $38,095 per game.

However, it wasn't for lack of trying. He had a horrible, horrible run with injuries during his time with us and his lack of value for money wasn't as a result of him putting his feet and up not having a go. It was all beyond his control.

Darren Albert was a shocker. The bloke could go at a hell of a rate of knots, but just had no direction other than straight forward. A left or right turn was completely beyond the scope of his skill set.

Vagana went to sh!t when he arrived too, and while I don't think he was entirely happy at the Club but stuck round for the pay cheque, I'll concede he didn't get the quality ball he got at the Bulldogs.

I don't think Filiga is a candidate. We tried, we failed, and he only got away with under $150K for his two years of f-ck all from what I understand. Weight that up with what he potentially should have become and I still think it was a worthwhile gamble.

Chris Anderson and most of the useless f-cks he brought with him, in combination with the talent we let go is right up there too.

Bit hard to go past Tony Zappia given how extensive the amount of damage he did in such little time, although I tend to think he was just the straw that broke the camel's back in a clusterf-ck of incompetent administration that dated way back to before his recruitment.

Yep.

And sometimes you have to reach rock bottom to push yourself up again.

In a way it's glad all that happened as it was the catalyst for change.

Of the players mentioned, Ross and Vagana are the worst signings when you take salary in to consideration. Other guys might have played bad, but didn't get paid as much.

Some worse players come to mind (McGoldrick, J Anderson, Crossan) but these guys never played much first grade and probably earned less than 150k between them.

I think Pomeroy has been a terrible signing, considering how much he is being paid. He hardly played a game for the first 18 months, plays one half-decent season and then gets paid $200k+ to be the worst player in the team.

The two rugby recruits - Tiaan Strauss and Allan Bateman - never set the world on fire. I imagine that they didn't come cheaply either.
