There were plenty of instances where we sat back and waited for them. South’s we’re in our faces all night and constantly pushing us backwards or sideways.

We have no line speed. Zero.
This!
I said to a bloke sat behind me the exact same.
Our defensive line takes 3 steps forward and stops - basically gifts them 8 -10m every time.
Look at Penrith & Melbourne - they sprint off the line and get into opposition faces constantly for 80 min.
Not whether its lack of mongrel, lack of fitness, or a combo of both

The only way to bring the mongrel is via head clashes? OK.

We have no line speed. Zero. What's Matty Prior doing atm?
I don’t get this magical concept of ‘the mongrel’ we are missing where we are somehow more ‘mongrel’ but penalties for aggressive play reduce. Can you break it down for me?

I do agree we lacked line speed at times, some of our best line speed to pressure them ended in us getting penalised - is this ‘the mongrel’?

Maybe we should get some discipline and technique and then build on line speed without penalties from there.

I don’t need us to suck angrily, need to be smarter first

Manly had great line speed this week especially when opposition were trapped deep.

We always manage to **** that up

I thought there was also instances where we stepped up and D and some where we rolled through them. Less instances, but it wasn't all one way traffic.

10 runs for 103 metres and 22 tackles with 2 missed in 38 minutes of football.

Harsh critics you blokes
Problem is none of his runs made an impact , doesn't use his size to threaten the line . Same thing in the trials .

It’s not so much mongrel we are missing it’s just plain strength and size our middles simple lost the ruck in both offensive and defensively tonight that allowed fast play the balls for Cook and Murray.
We need Hazelton out there his strength and size won’t be obvious on highlight reels but he saps energy from his opponents no one out there last night did that.

Talakai was our most impactful player in the middle... That's not great.

Which is a concern when you consider they played a lot of the game with 15

We’ve been like this since 2017. It’s ****ed how many metres sides make against us every set of 6. I have no idea why this hasn’t been one of our biggest focuses moving forward.

If it’s a fitness issue then that’s a huge concern. It was round 1. You think these blokes would be ****ing charging out of the line.

Whether it is fitness or not is debatable.

However in regards to the size of the pack.

Cronulla’s pack was clearly smaller then all of the other top teams last year (I did go through and check it last year too lazy to do it again) and it seems to have gotten the exact same result game 1 being that the big players roll over the advantage line, get quick play of the ball, getting Cronulla back peddling and then fatigued.

Toby tried too.
BUT ONLY having 2 forwards making inroads .
We were SHAGGED
He was good but I didn't think he was intimidating. He didn't really stomp over the top of players like BHU did a couple of times..

Toby was prepared to tangle with Burgess though and I think that irritated the big bunny.
