Good morning Sharkies & Sharkettes.
As a South Sydney supporter since 1967 it pains me to see my club going through this period of being the joke of the NRL.
Yesterdays game was nothing more than a pathetic excuse for the players to justify their contract money by turning up, running onto the field in a red & green jersey & collecting payment for services un-rendered.
I firmly believe that we have problems in the front office & i am losing all respect & support i once had for Shane Richardson.
As Shane one held office with the Sharks then what was your individual opinions of the man & how he conducted himself when he was in charge of the Sharks.
I dont entirely blame him but it seems to me that he has been handsomely rewarded for backing PHaC & Rusty in their bid for privatisation at Souths & i dont believe he is pulling his weight & has made some very shonkey decisions.
If i could have some honest opinions i would appreciate it & if the Administers of this site believe that this thread deserves to be removed or deleted for not being 100% Cronulla content then i will graciously accept that as well.

that's just an excuse we use for deleting stuff we don't like!

I don't think I was paying much attention when Shane Richardson was here. Distracted teenage years and all.

Ok Shireboy.
Thanks for the clarification on both your misspent youth (been there, done that) & your lack of attention to detail regarding Richo's performance at the Sharks.
Maybe some of the senior members of the forum might be able to shred some light on my curiosity to Richo's time at the Sharkies.

Welcome to Emu Plains, please be sure to visit our
souths have shown up to be the myth that crowe and phacwitt created..by making them wear armani suits..going to america first class..prouncing around like there the pride of league, so says uncle russ..players of yester year would laugh at such a thing, i dont see souths as the players who like to dig deep and get dirty and show some pride like souths of old..

hope souths get start winning..they deserve to..they have shown they can, just jason taylor cant stand with the same 6/7 every week..

all the best coogee

richo turned the place around while he was here and did the same for penrith.

...but he was closely associated with Johnny Lang at both clubs, so it is quite possible he works better with people he is familiar with and in a stable environment, and I am not sure if that is the situation at Souths?

i dont think shane richardson is your problem. he had good success with sharks and even more so with penrith. i think the problem at souths is it is too "holiwood" . i read an article in the rlw a couple of weeks back that some of the players are sick of all the hype and media and attention they get just because they are owned by crowe and holmes a court. i think this would definately have had an affect on shane richardson's job, hes not the main man in charge any more. i thought it was a great idea for crowe to buy souths, but him and homlesaccourt need to leave the football to richardson. i think thats where your problem lies...

I disagree, I think they have gone all out and possibly mis spent some time, money and energy in their corporate side, rather then their footy side of things, I don't it is their whole problem mind you, but it all helps. I think there is obvious problems throughout the players and the coaching staff, what that is I don't know. But I can tell you IMO if you guys did not have Asotasi, it would be even worse, at least he earns his pay cheque week in and week out, not sure how he went yesterday though. Kidwell is terrible for one, and changing you halves combo every week is not going to help either, why not leave them to settle in etc.

If I were you coogeeboy, the thing I would be most worried about is, if they keep losing, how long it will be before the money men pull the pin on the cash, I mean they are smart businessmen, I don't they will hang around if they keep losing every week.

In saying that, they are down on confidence, I think Wing is a huge loss, not only on the park for direction but more so because they truly evolved everything around him, and they looked so good with him in the trials, i think it really hurt their confidence when he got injured to do it without him, and still is now. It is a hangover they quickly need to remedy.

Richiardson, for me, no I don't like him, he comes across to full of sh*t to me.

I don't understand it Coogeeboy, last year Souths' forwards dominated most other teams, their defence was one of the best, and even though they weren't perfect they managed to get themselves into the top 8. This year they sit 0-6 (sorry to bring it up), their defence is a step down from last year, they have pretty much the same pack, and are struggling (like we are) to score points. Is it Jason Taylor's fault? Can he cope with the poor form? Is it Peter's and Russel's fault? Richardson's?
Honestly I have no idea why Souths are struggling so much, but maybe there needs to be a rethink as to where the club wants to be? At the moment I sympathise with all Souths supporters and their suffering, after last year their troubles seemed to be over, but they are now back to the poor form. I have no idea how Souths could get out of this one, but I hope that things turn around very soon.

A big problem is and I hate to say it because I am Maori myself, is there are far too many Maori and Islander boys in this team along the currie boys!!!
Although they are all very good or great solo talents they all seem to go missing when the heat is on it is proven every year by the Kiwi's and by the all blacks at world cups.
On paper these sides look great and the players individualy look intimdating but tire fast unless they are on a roll, the Warriors are a perfect example of this, without Steve Price and other highly competative aussie boys they lack direction and normally lose.
It is a common thought over here that if more than half your side is made up of these players you will struggle at the end of both halves.
One on one the boys will smoke most guys for individual talent(size, speed, strength) but when thrown together NO HEART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO LEADERSHIP
You will hardly ever see these teams grind out wins.

If the turth hurts to bad

Kiwishark, could not agree more, I know for a fact Ricky had a rule at the Rooseters, no more then 3 maori/FOB's in the side at one time, for that exact reason. And you couldn't be more on the money either.

There has been much discussion over here of late of the dominance of kiwi/islander boys dominating the lower grades at a lot of clubs, and yes this happens for your reasons stated as well as the fact tat you guys develope a lot quicker in strength, size and ability, and earlier in your lives, but I still think it shows your case above, in the amount of those kids that actually crack first grade and play there regularly and with results.

I don't know about Shane Richardson but I think Wing was a huge loss to Souths. There is always hope that when he does return that they will see a change in form, just hope for you Coogee its not too late by then. I actually expected they would beat the Tigers, actually I thought they would beat us. A win can't be too far away surely.

On a different note - at least the Chooks lost this week, how sweet that was!!:D

I said just before the start of the season that I would like to play Souths in the first five or six rounds. Why ? Because as I said, going to the US in January for two or more weeks was the dumbest idea I have ever heard. Thats the time when you should be training your butt off, not rubbing shoulders with celebrities. It may have been good for exposure and PR, but its no good for your performances on the field. I was in the members stand at the SCG yesterday and they were pathetic. Sorry Coogeeboy but things look grim. One good thing though, there were a lot of adults as well as children with shirts, jerseys and jumpers and other supporters gear on. They have done well in that regard.

how long was richardson at the sharks?

anyway on to the rabbits. losing craig wing hasnt been the only big loss. isaac luke was probably your best player in the first few rounds. he is going to be a gooden in the future for you guys. and at the moment it just doesnt look like they are hungry to win.

just need a good halfback and new coach

losing wing was the cruelest blow ive seen to a footy side in a long time.
Poor old jason taylor seriously looks like he is going to snap any day now, every interview he gives, he looks one step closer to the padded wall hotel.
it will turn around in time, i didnt think they were playing that bad, they just need one win and go from there.

To me, and i said this last year, Jason Taylor isn't the same coach he was in 2006 at the Eels, he looks like he is struggling with something at Souths, no job satisfaction??? As soon as Souths clear this problem up, Souths will be on their winning ways immediately in my opinion.

Is it just me but when Souths were winning I saw nothing of Shane Richardson and too much of Holmes a Court and Russell Crowe. Seems to me that now the going is tough they have said "over to you Shane " !
