WEEKEND GAME-CAST
NSWRL MEDIA
18/06/2011 11:25:38 AM

Hello all and welcome to another WEEKEND Game-Cast courtesy of our good friends at Teamm8.

This weekend we will be Game-Casting ALL of the action LIVE from Campbelltown Sports Stadium as the Western Suburbs Magpies host the Cronulla Sharks.

The Sharks find themselves in third position on the ladder after leading the competition a few weeks back while the Magpies need a few wins before seasons end to avoid the dreaded wooden spoon.

And of course we will keep you up to speed with all of the other scores from the Bundaberg Red Cup and NSW Cup clashes including the big match between the Jets and Manly at Brooky which will see Todd Carney pulling on the Jets jersey as he battles to recapture his Dally M winning form of a year ago.

Plus don't forget that a little further down the page you can find the radio links for this weekends selected games.

Also if you have not already done so hit us up at our Facebook page which you can find by clicking here or if you are more of a "Tweep" you can follow us @NSWRL by clicking here

These (along with visiting www.nswrl.com.au) are your easiest ways of staying in touch with everything NSWRL, from Jnr Reps to NSW Cup right through to the NSW Blues and everything in between.

Western Suburbs Magpies Vs Cronulla Sharks
Campbelltown Sports Stadium, Saturday, June 18
Kick-off: 3.00pm
Referee: Gavin Reynolds
Broadcast: www.nswrl.com.au’s Weekend Game-Cast, proudly brought to you by Teamm8

Summary: When these two sides last played it was the Sharks who crushed the Magpies 56-10 at Henson Park, and not much has changed since then with the Sharks continuing on their winning ways and the Magpies are still propping up the bottom of the ladder. Try as they might the poor old Magpies just can’t seem to find a way to ignite their season and unfortunately appear to now be favourites to claim the dreaded wooden spoon. The Sharks did go down to Wenty last weekend and as a result fell to third on the ladder but they will no doubt be looking to bounce straight back here and keep the pressure on the top of the table Dogs in the process. Scott Porter and Tim Smith are set to be reunited in the halves for the Sharks while Aaron Sweeney will make his second starting appearance of the year for the Magpies after he did so for the first time last weekend in their 24-6 loss to the Tigers.

Game Breaker: Broderick Wright – has been back in the NSW Cup for a couple of weeks and is starting to return to the form which saw him in the NRL for the majority of the season. He stood up against a strong Wenty pack last weekend and more of the same can be expected here.

Prediction: Unfortunately for the black and white faithful I can’t see anything other than a Sharks victory. Sharks by 18.

Hello all and thanks for joining us here at Campbelltown Sports Stadium for this Rd 15 clash between the Magpies and the Sharks. The last time these two sides met the Sharks were far too good for the Magpies and no doubt the Magpies will be out for a little payback here.

Conditions are perfect for Rugby League.

1st Min: underway here at Campbelltown, a spectacular afternoon here in the west and the Magpies have first use of the ball and work their way down the park and complete their first set. Good start for the Magpies.

7th Min: Still a bit on an arm wrestle here at Campbelltown. Both sides have been completing their sets and getting good field position.

12th Min: The Sharks give back to back penalties for ruck infringements and the Maggies now have a full set in attack.

14th Min: TRY Davud Harris hits and spins out of a few tackles and scores just next to the upright. Fifita converts and the Maggies lead it 6-0.

20th Min: TRY A break made by Sharks centre Beau Champion sees Ryan Tongia under the posts. Champion's one handed offload put Tongia in a gap and he simply had too much pace for Millard. Tongia converts his own try and it is 6-all here at Campbelltown.

20th Min: TRY Jay Maseuli is in for the Maggies after some more ill discipline from the Sharks on their own line. The Maggies look on today folks! Conversion unsuccessful, Maggies 10 lead Sharks 6

35th Min: TRY Atela Vaea burrows over from dummy half on 5th tackle and scores. Tongia converts and the Sharks have taken the lead 12-10.

38th Min: Both sides muscle up in defence in the last sets of six and force mistakes. The maggies have 30 second to score a meat pie before half time but the bounce of the ball favours the Sharks.

HALF TIME: Close game here at Campbelltown Stadium. Cronulla 12 lead Western Suburbs 10.

Half Time (NSW Cup) Newtown 28 lead Manly 10

44th Min: Good start to the second half from the Maggies, they have forced a drop out from the Sharks and are now attacking the Sharks line on tackle two.

50th Min: TRY Beau Champion slices through and sends Tongia under the posts. Brilliant run from Champion and great support from Tongia. Tongia converts his own try and it is now 18-10 Cronulla.

55th Min: TRY The Magpies bounce back through Joshua Murray. Murray skips past some rather flimsy Sharks defence to score under the posts. Fifita converts. 18-16 with just over 20 to go.

60th Min: As the 'COMMON AARON SWEENEY' echoes across Campbelltown Sports Stadium, the Magpies have withstood another Sharks raid and make a break down the right edge to now force a drop out from the Sharks! Is this the turning point?

65th Min: Josh Murray nails a penalty goal to lock it up at 18-all. Super game out here.

69th Min: Big blow for Wests, Ryan Millard limping off!

71st Min: Aaron Sweeney has just monstered referee Gavin Reynolds as he was running back onside. Both parties are ok as the Magpies are saved by a Dean Collis knock on five metres out. GRANDSTAND FINISH FOLKS

73rd Min: TRY Unfortunately they aren't saved from Broderick Wright and Robbie Rochow who combine to put the Sharks in front. Tongia converts and it is 24-18 Sharks.

77th Min: TRY Fortuitous try to Jared Farlow. Tim Smiths attempted field goal is charged down straight into the arms of Farlow who dives over to score the try in what would have been an offside position if the attempt had not been touched. Tongia converts and it looks like the Maggies are gone. 30-18 Sharks.

79th Min: TRY Dean Collis rubs salt into the wounds of the Maggies faithful. He charges down a kick and runs 60 metres to score in the corner after the bell. Conversion unsuccessful.

FULL TIME: A gallant Maggies side has gone down to Cronulla 34-18 here at Campbelltown.

Full Time (NSW Cup) Newtown 38 def. Manly 26
