So it's same bat time same bat channel for both teams this week?

Yes sir.

We're looking into getting a chartered bus on Sunday that will pick up and drop off at the Leagues Club.

More info to follow.

Sharks Finals Schedule Announced

Sharks Finals Schedule Announced
19/09/2011 9:38:22 AM

The Sharks Toyota Cup team will face the Cowboys on Friday night, while the NSW Cup Sharks play Auckland on Sunday.

The under-20 NYC final is set down for a 5.15pm kickoff at the Sydney Football Stadium on Friday, with the Sharks tackling a North Queensland team who finished second after the 26 rounds of the regular season.

The Sharks moved through to the Grand Final qualifier thanks to a gritty 14-4 win over the Roosters.

The winner of the Sharks v Cowboys match will play the winner of the other Grand Final qualifier between the minor premiers the New Zealand Warriors and the Canterbury Bulldogs. After losing to the Sharks in week one of the finals the Bulldogs upset the Melbourne Storm last weekend to stay alive in the premiership race.

In the NSW Cup the Sharks, courtesy of a stirring comeback victory over Wentworthville, play the Auckland Vulcans in a match to take place on Sunday at Leichhardt Oval. That game gets under way at 1.00pm.

If successful the Sharks would then face the winner of the Canterbury v North Sydney game, which is also to be held at Leichhardt, and is to follow the Sharks game at 3.00pm.

For those unable to get to the games the NYC clash between the Sharks and Cowboys will be televised live on Fox Sports, while the NYC Finals are being broadcast live by the Continuous Call Team on radio station 2GB.

Tickets to the SFS Final, which also features the NRL match between Manly and the Broncos, go on sale to the general public tomorrow (Tuesday).

Head to Head:

Sat, Mar 26 2011 1:00 PM, Auckland Vulcans 18 v Cronulla Sharks 42 @ Mt Smart
Sat, Aug 27 2011 1:00 PM, Cronulla Sharks 28 v Auckland Vulcans 38 @ Henson Park

The way that all of this has panned out with the draw this year - the NSW draw has been a complete dog's breakfast - it's been really hard to get a true indication as to who is in form and who isn't by looking at the ladder

Once again, we'll need to be on our game for this one.

Looking forward to it.

NSW CUP MATCH PREVIEWS - PRELIMINARY FINALS

Auckland Vulcans Vs Cronulla Sharks
Leichhardt Oval, Sunday, September 25
Kick-off: 1.00pm
Referee: Jon Stone
Broadcast: 2GB Continuous Call Team (Link available via www.nswrl.com.au's Weekend Game-Cast)
Broadcast: Triple H 100.1FM (Link available via www.nswrl.com.au's Weekend Game-Cast)

Summary: While Krisnan Inu retains his place in the NRL, the Vulcans have named another international centre to take his place in former Kangaroo Shaun Berrigan. Berrigan will be partnered in the centres by the versatile Sione Lousi and combined with two sizeable wingers in Willie Peace and Nuivoa Taka, they provide halves Pita Godinet and Brett Seymour with some more than handy attacking weapons.

The Sharks have only named two Melbourne players in Jack Afamasaga and Sione Kite but you would expect a few players off Craig Bellamy's extended eight-man bench to make their way to Leichhardt on Sunday barring significant injury worries out of their NRL clash with the Warriors.

The battle of the engine room sees four of the top NSW Cup front-rowers and two of the best hookers do battle. James Gavet, Alehana Mara and Jeremy Latimore (Vulcans) and Johnny Mannah, Stuart Flanagan and Siosaia Vave (Sharks) have all either tasted NRL or are on the fringe of selection and whoever gains ascendancy here will give their side the best chance of progressing through to the Grand Final at ANZ Stadium next Sunday afternoon.

Talking Point: The shootout – The Vulcans (810) and the Sharks (656) were first and third respectively when it came to scoring points in season 2011 and the Sharks showed in no uncertain terms last weekend that they can put points on the board and do it quickly. Should conditions be similar to last weekend then it could be an all out shootout with the team who uses the blustery conditions better taking the spoils.

Prediction: Very hard to separate these two sides and don't think there will be much in it either way but favour the Vulcans ever so slightly. Vulcans by 2.

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Vs North Sydney Bears
Leichhardt Oval, Sunday, September 25
Kick-off: 3.00pm
Referee: Matt Noyen
Broadcast: 2GB Continuous Call Team (Link available via www.nswrl.com.au's Weekend Game-Cast)
Broadcast: Triple H 100.1FM (Link available via www.nswrl.com.au's Weekend Game-Cast)
Broadcast: NSWRL Match of the Round to be aired on Fox Sports 2 HD and Fox Sports 2, Wednesday, September 28, 4.30pm

Summary: The Bulldogs were pushed all the way by the eighth-placed Balmain Ryde-Eastwood Tigers in the first week of the NSW Cup Final Series and they will need a better performance should they want to hold off a Bears team playing with momentum after they snuck past sentimental favourites Newtown last weekend.

The Bears have everything that worries the Bulldogs. They have two wingers that are more than competent under the highball, two crafty halves in Matt Mundine and Malcolm Webster, and a sizeable forward pack lead by 19 year-old George Burgess, 21 year-old Neccrom Areaiiti and Gold Coast bound hooker Beau Falloon.

The Bulldogs aren't at full-strength either with Jonathon Wright, Grant Millington and Joel Romelo all unavailable for this Grand Final qualifier. Josh Reynolds moves back to halfback for the Dogs while tireless hooker Shane Pumipi takes Reynolds' spot at hooker. This games shapes as a grittier fixture that the 1pm game as both sides like to grind out victories given the chance.

To be any chance, the Bears must stop the Bulldogs pack from getting early momentum and should they rattle the Dogs, like the Tigers did a fortnight ago, they have the desperation in defence which could see them hold on and stop the Canterbury side from reaching a third-straight NSW Cup Grand Final.

Talking Point: Josh Reynolds back at halfback, help or hindrance? – Reynolds has excelled in the number seven jersey at NSW Cup level but is ultimately viewed by NRL coaching staff as a hooker if his recent foray into the NRL is anything to go by. Reynolds was the best player for the NSW Cup Representative side in the last two fixtures and loves getting down and dirty. This game will suit him and we expect him to excel.

Prediction: While perhaps not as dominant as say this time last year, the Bulldogs are still the favourites for the title. Bulldogs by 4.

Young Sharks in Cup final - St George and Sutherland Shire Leader

Young Sharks in Cup final
BY BRAD FORREST
23 Sep, 2011 04:00 AM

CRONULLA Sharks get two chances to have lower grade rugby league teams make it through to grand final weekend.

First, their talented Under 20s side play in tonight's Toyota Cup final against the North Queensland Cowboys at the Sydney Football Stadium.

The Sharks defended strongly in their 14-4 victory over the Sydney Roosters last Friday, while the Cowboys enjoyed the week off.

The two teams have split the results in the regular season, although the Sharks are fielding a much stronger side to the one that went down to the Cowboys, 42-22, in the penultimate round in Townsville.

The Sharks also came through the Roosters game without any major injury concerns and coach James Shepherd is quietly confident his young team can do the job again.

The Sharks Under 20s have named an unchanged side for the match, which kicks off at 5.15pm.

At 1pm, Sunday at Leichhardt Oval, the Sharks' NSW Cup side plays their grand final qualifier against Auckland, with two changes to the team which flew home to win 36-34 last weekend.

Jarred Farlow comes in at lock, and Kose Lelei on the wing in place of Melbourne Storm contracted players Robbie Rochow (injured) and Sisa Waqa (NRL squad).

The Storm's Sione Kite and Jack Afamasaga make the trip to Sydney to play for the Sharks on Sunday.

SHARKS NYC: 1 Luke Pickerd, 2 Ali Hijazi, 3 Callum Tutauha, 4 Stewart Mills, 5 Daniel Moroko, 6 Penani Manumalealii, 7 Chad Townsend (c), 8 Rodney Coates, 9 Dane Malone, 10 Teni Waipouri, 11 Tyson Frizell, 12 Sione Masima, 13 Tyrone Peachey. Interchange: 14 Fraser Alcock, 15 Tokerau Raru, 16 Michael Lichaa, 17 Haydn Peacock.

SHARKS NSW CUP: 1 Isaac Gordon, 2 Kose Lelei, 3 Dean Collis, 4 Ricky Leutele, 5 Nathan Stapleton, 6 Scott Porter, 7 Tim Smith (c), 8 Siosaia Vave, 9 Stuart Flanagan, 10 Johnny Mannah, 11 Trent Grubb, 12 Broderick Wright, 13 Jarred Farlow. Interchange: 14 Andrew Clayton, 15 Jack Afamasaga, 16 Jason McGrady, 17 Daniel Perkins, 20 Sione Kite.
