Wtf r u on?

If our style of play needs a fast ruck, and the refs are pulling up people slowing the ruck then our style of play would suit it. U contradicted yourself.

Flanagans remarks about being competitive relate to effort. We tried, thats obvious. And yet again errors and easy possessions through penalties, especially late in the twckle count were our downfall which has been the case since october 3 2016

Flanno keeps saying "we will fix it, we will fix it".
He said that all year last year and sure enough we got beat in the first week of the finals cos of stupid errors and penalties!
I still think we were the only team to be able to compete against the Storm last season but we didn't give ourselves the opportunity for our stupid penalties and errors!

We need to start practicing what Flanno is preaching!
We need to cut out the silly penalties, the tackle 5 penalties and we will be in a much better position.
This then helps our attack and handling (which will improving) as we won't be as fatigued from all the extra defensive work.

Maybe my poor wording.

The 2018 NRL ruck speed is much slower and han previous years because the ball carrier is made to play it with their feet.

The dfencive line has more time to get back. Going one out and having forwards take hit ups continuall on tackle 4 and 5 is going to work. 8 tries I think in 5 games?

I am probably being padantic with Flannos wording of competing. We tried and had effort but we didn’t compete. 28-10 tells you that. I’ll discipline, inability to diffuse kicks, poor handling, poor game management, stifled attack doesn’t allow you to compete.

I am not a Flanno hater at all. but I think our style needs to adjust quickly.

In saying all of that having a different spine every game and different combos would have to make things tough.

We lost to the team with the worst forward pack in the competition.

That fact alone is disgusting.

We look like we have spent the whole off season , not knowing who is going to play where in the backs.

AND , we still don't.........

I would say we spend endless hours trying to make Val a fullback , when we should have been doing something else.......

Flanno had to honour his promise to Val that he would start the year at fullback .
So the pre season drills would have been run for that eventuality .
I have no doubts that Flanno envisaged Moylan at fullback as being his preference and only if Val stunk could he do this . ( that was why we chased Pearce to play in the halves) .
Flannno now has to re-order the deckchairs to what he really wants and run the attaching/defensive drills post haste to get the team gelling .

Our backs are going sideways because the forwards have not created any room for them.

Totally agree with your reading of Flanno's honouring of the promise and that being the spanner in the works. It's the way he sorted the positions between Bird & Val (last preseason?).

Managing egos is part of the role as a coach.

There'll be those who say bad luck, just ram them into the position you want them to play - and that would be a valid argument.

You want the team to want to play for their coach though.

I agree too .
Ideally the coach has the right to say suck it up .
But , when Val was going to sign , no doubt first crack at fullback would have been brought up .

Yes that is all fair enough.

It's up to Flanno to sort this out , that's why he gets the big bucks...

It will be very interesting to see the look of our backs when everyone is available...

He gave Val a fair go so there's no reasonable cause for complaint from his perspective. Has thrown our season out though.

Time will tell .
For the first 20 minutes we looked like world beaters last night .
Swift ball movement , line breaks . etc
and then , F -all

We did look good.

The question is , can Moylan replicate that from # 6 instead of from the back.

We need him to.

Him with Dugan with Holmes , would that help ?
If Wade could give those 2 a bit of time and space to work then yes it could be a very effective left edge. When wade puts in his grubbers we would have a far superior chaser in Holmes as well

We were all over them first half until Fifita gave away his first penalty, we were looking sharp and expansive cutting the roosters line to shreds but without enough support backing up the breaks. But once the discipline rot starts with this team it just seems to snowball. Even in the second half we put on some nice plays from well out with some ad-lib and depth to our backline particularly on the right side. The biggest problem was attacking from the ruck inside their 10 where beyond some grubbers and chip kicks we didn't have alot of ideas or good enough execution. Our forwards were rucking it up trying to make something happen

Forwards to create space for halves, halves to create opportunities for backs

And they smashed our forwards all over the park. I watched the game again and our forwards were completely dominated. The halves ran riot on the back of this

Bring dugan into leuteles position and thats it. More line breaks and tries than the first four weeks tells us that this is our most attacking 1 - 7.
