are people taking the pi$$ with the 321 thread for his game?

Pom gets points because he played the least amount of minutes??????

Also, people picking Graham OMG how many tackles does he need to miss to have a bad game? I guess it's just a lottery.

... also no Snowden or Frizzel on the list to pick from

Couldn't agree more. I have probably been one of tautais biggest fans and have been trying to stand up for him whenever anyone calls him **** as it isn't true. He makes metres at ease, likes to defend and is always calling for the ball.

At the end of last year he was one of our better players when he was starting in the backrow and then I saw him in the NSW cup at the start of the year playing at lock and he was a step above everyone. Now he has come into 1st grade and has only had one dissapointing game against newy but even then he was running the ball well and looking dangerous and the only reason he made the mistakes was because he was trying too hard.

Wow TT only 1 bad game??? And no mention of his brain snaps and penalties? Trying too hard or not does not excuse the errors. Sure TT has improved overall but he's still a liability. If Parra can untap his potential and keep him on a leash then good luck to him but I'm glad we won't be taking that gamble at the Sharks in 2012.

he isn't a liability at all. He is the perfect player to have on the bench as he can come on at prop, backrow, centres or even wing. I must be blind as I really don't notice his brain snaps or errors apart from the knights game. Maybe I am just judging brain snaps and errors on pom's performances and TT looks great compared.

No you are juding him perfectly fine. He has been playing well, with good meters and defence. He has given away a couple of penalties, but no more than any other player with his work rate.

Some people just want a scape goat.

I thought the game was testament to Jeremy Smith's professionalism.

Its pretty hard for a backrower who doesn't really ballplay to win a game for his team- especially when the rest were as utterly ****house as they were on Friday night.

But Smith didn't let his personal standards drop. He played to the last minute and scored a try, made a steal in the second half, tackled hard for the 80- which is his job in a nutshell. Hopefully the rest will see that and learn, especially the young blokes.

More on this- unfortunately, the brutal truth is that Smith demonstrated the difference between our blokes and the best in the comp. He isn't as talented as many other players, but he does what is required to win. And he does it every week. That, simply put, is what wins the NRL these days. There are no great teams anymore, only good ones. Its consistency that wins out and the best coaches (Bellamy, Bennett, Hasler) get it from there players every year. They have a stable style, they have a stable side with good leaders who love the Club and a strong financial and junior base to build on each year.

That kind of consistency isn't built in a year- especially when your halves are 20. But Hasler and Bellamy built sides and cultures out of nothing (especially Hasler- remember when the Sea Eagles were absolutely terrible?? He unearthed two Stewarts, a Watmough, a Matai and signed Kennedy, Lyon, Orford and Kite and took them to the semis).

Smith can be our Ben Kennedy if the boys follow him. Kennedy carried that Manly side on his back through sheer competitiveness and nous. The best sides aren't necessarily the most talented (I reckon the Raiders and the Roosters are tbh) but they have more professionals who know their jobs to perfection, like Big Jez does. Our young blokes need to learn that professionalism, and if they do (and we can keep them), then the talent of Chad/Graham/Peachey/AK/Gardner/Mills/Frizell will take them to the top.

But it all comes down to performing with the same kind of consistency Smith did the other night. No matter how badly your teammates are playing, no matter how long you contract is and no matter what you've achieved in the past, you don't let your standards drop.
