Definitely can't see a win here, cricket score on us. Sorry guys, bit pessimistic, but our defence is crap. We leak points too easy and Penrith will destroy us based on that.

Did anyone actually watch Penrith's game on the weekend?

Yep. Warriors troubled them and they didn't look amazing. I think they're due for a loss.

Just need to smash Cleary early on and rush him. Tell Graham to pretend he's Cronk.

I think it was Sterlo who asked Api something like "Please tell me you guys don't think you need a loss before the run into the finals".
Api responded in that they just want to keep building on last week to the next. That's scary for all other sides this season if they continue on that trajectory.

Both teams are looking a bit ragged. Just watched a few of the interviews and videos from the Sharks site and there was mention of how much the previous week had taken out of us. And it looked that way through the team song. About half of them took part and... just one round of Pump it Up! That worries me more than SJ's hamstring.

We're also on a six-day turnaround. I don't think that's a long enough break to get them right.
At least the weather is looking okay... physically that's good, but not so much for our chances.

This is where we'll see what the young guys have in their tanks, and where the veterans should make a difference. Wade is stepping up, so's SJ. Now we need Mozza and Woods to do the same and help bring the baby Sharks through the next month.

I think Fifita and yes even Chad coming back will be good for the team, and it'll be good timing too. Might even look to rest some of the middles for a game or two, freshen them up.

Unless we somehow learn to defend this week we don't win this.

yes this is the sad reality and I don't think enough has changed or will change within 1 week for our defense not to still be a serious issue that will get exploited and exposed come the weekend

while the titans have improved in attack they are still a bottom table side and put 16 on us (2 soft trys through the middle and one very nice pass exposing our fragile edges) and the panthers can double that or more while making it far harder for us to put points on them

we either have to play 80 mins of some of the best attacking error free football in our history against the panthers or hope for the Panthers to be off their game (unlikely)

Very different team to the one they faced last time. No Nene who dropped balls for fun and no Goodwin. Duges and Katoa holding that side down and Talakai on the other side facing Kikau (boy that’s going to be fun to watch). Get a good start and we are in it. The flood gates could open though if they get a few early tries.

that's true and gives us some hope, we certainty shouldn't get 50 put on us this time around but those inclusions alone won't be enough to get us a win. still gotta play our best game of the season as a team and I agree that the key will not be letting them get early points or it could be over in 20 mins. I know we like to make a late game comeback run in the second half and all but it's a different proposition against a top 4 side.

Gotta get out in front and make them play to us or at least hang with them on the scoreboard the full 80

Panthers are giving off real cronulla 16' vibes though

yea I don't like it, makes them feel more dangerous and more a serious threat at the title.

I will cry if they equal or better our winning streak in 16' which I think there are just enough games left in the regular season to equal the 15 we won but would need to win first week of finals to set a new NRL record of 16 and equal our 16 game unbeaten run

What about Cleary off injured at halftime?
lose first half, win second?

They have a monster forward pack, backs that are quick and exciting, a coach who is one of the best in the game

I think you mean a coach who is one of the best in the game once a decade...

Yeah not a great feeling about this one. If we start well we can match them and be competitive but if we start like we did last time vs them or how we did against the titans we are toast.

Ivan is a big chinned smug prick with a mediocre coaching record (NRL) sprinkled with some highlights

Very smug.

Also the way he flicked Wests' players and told them to get off the bus or whatever it was.. Then the smug ****er walks out on his contract.

Assume nobody has seen any injury news yet?

Photos from recovery session show Johnson's arm successfully reattached and he is in the water with the rest of the boys.
Can't see Dugan in any of the photos, only other player that isn't in at least one photo is Woods.

In your head, rent free
i cant see us winning this, but i dont think it will be a 30 point thrashing either

they are due a loss, we are due a scalp, but it will take a complete 80 minute performance to get penrith and i dont think we have that in us

Morris said Dugan should be fine, didn't seem too much concern so hoping he'll be fine.

Johnson's groin wasn't that bad either but they might rest him, guess we'll find out. No chance we win without Johnson obviously.

If the games were reversed and we had just played the Panthers and were heading into the Titans fame I could see a rest coming for SJ with the groin issue

Jimbob and I were right next to the tunnel and SJ seemed pretty positive coming off and was moving pretty well post game
