First 50 minutes of this game we killed it. I know they scored first but we overcame that and piled on the pressure and points.
After that I truly don’t know what happened. I know we lost Ramien but not sure if that contributed. It did seem like we went Chad’s side more that SJs in the second half. Chad wasn’t terrible but he didn’t really give us the X factor SJ did in the first half. I didn’t count them but all he seemed to do on the fifth when he got it was put up a bomb. One thing I’ll say about Chad is you can’t fault his effort. He definitely puts in 100%. Unfortunately his execution is at 5%. He doesn’t have the spark, he doesn’t play what’s in front of him, he just does not frighten the defence or pose them any threat.
Our big boppers were enormous. I gave Hunt and Rudolf my points over SJ because I just think their impact brought us back into the contest and gave SJ the space to weave his magic. BHU was strong, Wilton did well, Wade’s getting close to his best and Talakai was a handful as usual. Woodsy certainly deserved his try.
I think HB mentioned earlier that it’s our defence that counts us out of being a top six team. Totally agree with that. When the Dragons had the ball inside our twenty I was just waiting for them to score. At times we look brilliant, but there’s always a tackle or two each set when we drop off Tackles and leave holes. Until we fix that, we’re nowhere near those top teams.
Moving on to next week, let’s hope our injuries aren’t too bad and we can keep the misery going for the Broncos.
