Marginally? Cowboys murdered us. The scoreboard doesnt show the higher number of linebreaks, the dissallowed tries, the repeat sets on our line, the footy played in our quarter. They should of won by 20 if it werent for just plain luck on our behalf. The sharks looked useless in attack. 5th tackle options, defensive and offensive kicks were kt 1st grade quality. Chad, val need a solid video session followed by some skill drills.

Laughed my ass off at Duges post try celebration. It’s from a game called fortnite. Using a bandage to heal. Beauty of a game.

The thing about the "we will flick the switch" line, is that we said that throughout the whole of the 2017 season.
Granted it is round 1 against a motivated and emotional Cowboys side playing for JT in the 300th. It was always going to be an uphill to win this one but let's hope we aren't still saying "it's ok, we will flick the switch" in another 5 to 10 or so rounds, cos by then we start thinking about 2019.

Hoping that Flanno rips them a new one and that the switch is flicked from round 2 (cos I'm an impatient bastard and want to see us winning games).

I think HB was being a bit sarcastic WS. :)

I think you’ll find he totally agrees with you.

Honestly, first round agaisnt Cowboys at home and NRLs favoyrite son's 300th, we were never going to win it.

Moylan actually showing good signs and the bloke looked like he was trying hard.
Disappointed with Holmes, I know it was the first game, but he looked so lazy with no urgency.

Shake off the cob webs and I am sure theyll put in a good effort next week.

It’s nice to have a 5/8 that isn’t afraid to put his body on the line. Great defender and isn’t afraid of taking a hit up

I posted that in the early am hours so sarcasm warning alert wasn't in full operation at the time!

Thanks Chad

While i'm a bit over losing Rnd1 games to start our seasons I can cop a bit of rust with room for improvement, especially with some new faces in the team (cowboys were rough as guts as well).

What I can't cop is how poor discipline which crippled our 2017 season was still on show last night. Flanno crapped on all of last year every week about how they will fix it up and they haven't.

On a side note I had to laugh at the commentators when Moylan kicked the ball dead and apparently it was the worse kick from a half in history
Thurston kicks it out on the full later and not a single word is said - not even the obligatory 'well he's human afterall" we usually get lol

Not the worst game, just simply frustrating as hell.
We simply lost the middle, couldnt count one time where the cowboys had to kick from there own half so they straight away eliminated our strength on kick returns.
And in our own half the seevice was rusty and our go forward was average, only to be further stuffed by strong tushing defence.
This type of game was crying out for us to get some offloads going which was a rare sight.

Despite what the comms and horrible half time panel said, i thought that whenever we did get in the opposition 20 we looked dangerous.

Player wise.
Val and Graham/Katoa injury made things worse.
Gal veryuinderdone also.

Seggy looked good.

He actually tried hard. No panicking right now just round 1 I can defs see him growing. Townsend on the other I think will suffer without having a stronger and older half.

That game was on of the worst matches I have seen us play in ages, I was so disappointed with that performance. We never deserved to win that, as Flanno said we were our own worst enemies. Every time we had the ball coming out of our half we turned the ball over again, we let them get over the 50 so much which is pretty poor defence for our standards. We cannot make errors from kickoffs all the time, kicked out on the full off the 1st kickoff, let them have the ball back after their kickoff letting the ball go out.

On a positive though, we had good line defence again, kept them out a fair bit when they were in our 20. Chad had a 100% conversion rate. Seggy played well when he came on. Bukuya was great on his start. Duges Moylan & Ava made good club debuts.

After watching other 3 games thus far, every team looks clunky amazing how good the teams get after 4-6 of footy... drags looked most poised.. win next week all will b forgiven.. remember the first four weeks of 2016 it was only ever going to be broncs v cows grand final neither got there... just want to see that fight over a bone mentality return qik smart and the exit of stupid leg up penalties... I swear fifs got pinged last night but there were probably 4 more occasions when I was more surprised they didn’t blow a penalty when he was in and around a tackle.

Yeah Fifs did a few belly flops on tackled players too. Just needed a lie down but could have been done for a flop a few times.

It’s a deliberate tactic. Fifs huge frame landing on you while on the ground to knock more wind out of them and make it harder to get up quicker

Marginally? Cowboys murdered us. The scoreboard doesnt show the higher number of linebreaks

3-1

the dissallowed tries

im not sure what you are saying?? they dropped the ball, so that means they made errors... that doesnt make them better than us

the repeat sets on our line

credit to our defense then, wouldn't you say?

he footy played in our quarter.

see above

couldn't be more wrong if you tried

the fact they won by 6 with a "lot of possession" in our half shows that were defensively switched on, thats what good teams do

Also due to the fact the best kicker in the game had a **** night off the tee

I dont remember our 1 line break. I would of put it at 0.

The dissallowed tries shows what the score could of been of been. Demonstrates the complete dominance.

Repeat sets in our 1/4 shows the dominance.

We were so far outdone by a team that was not at their best is my point. Defensively we did well and we had plenty of opportunities to show our defensive capability but i can remwnber 3 times we were penalised on the 4th tackle in our quarter. So i wouldnt be shouting from the rafters how good we are defensively yet.
