As bad as today's performance was, I'd rather be a good team that plays **** and wins than a **** team that loses games like this. Thinking back to these 09-11 years when we'd give teams a good fight and we would find a way to lose it in the last few minutes. Absolutely heart breaking.

In some ways after the game, I felt like we had lost. I thought once it was 18-6, we'd click into another gear and close the game out. Even at 18-12, I knew scoring again would close the game down.

I agree with most on here, a very poor performance. Created a lot of chances, had so much possession, but could not finish. Lack of patience, lack of execution, lack of cohesion, lack of effort in some cases.

What Val was thinking for their last try God only knows. With the ball in hand he's electrifying but he's way behind what Barba had in defence.

Gal was immense today and Boogs did some good things. Heighno was strong and Lewis did OK. Not much else unfortunately.
CT is still a thousand beats behind any of the top number 7s in the game. He did put in one great kick in the first half that pinned them in goal, but the others weren't great including the one for Beale's try. It was going dead until Beale came from nowhere to score.

We are operating at 40 maybe 45% at the moment and that's being generous.

Don't know about that but we had 59% off the ball. That's huge for an entire game. We won't score a try against Melbourne next week if we play like that.

Panthers had 58% of the ball tonight and got beat by 22 - not about how much ball you have it's just how you use it, and we did not use it well.

We look like we lack a bit of desire , which up to a point is understandable.

Agree with others, Townsend is way off the pace.

Really. Way off the pace? I haven't seen the match but that is quite surprising to me.

I look forward to watching him next week. He has had his share of criticism on here today and I can't wait to see him run around next week.

I'm a CT fan mate but he just did not control things well today. To his credit he did try to run the ball a bit but he chose the wrong times to do it.

Have a look when you get the chance mate. A number 7 should have composure, unfortunately CT is lacking in this department.

Not at all. I've got a lot of time for the little fella with the big hair. I watch most games and he seems to cop undue criticism for mine.

Bring it on. The little dude with the weird hair goes Ok. I've got faith in him.

He played fine, the criticism should be aimed at his more illustrious invisible halves partner.

Just watched the game for 1st time..
Val 4 pretty ordinary errors plus that Elliot try which saw him just jogging back oblivious to what was happening did score a nice try could only imagine meltdown central in here if it was Beale with those errors today. Chad is always going to have his haters but I really think Maloney has started the season a little underwhelming, your the senior play maker take control make it happen during the whole 80 mins glad he slotted that fieldy.
Atleast we don't go into next week anything like favourites which is a good thing. Need full on beast defence mode next week can't let them score more than 8-10 points cause not sure we have more than 10-12 in us.

I think we've been disappointing in all our home games this year.

Yesterdays game was similar to Dragons game - by that I mean - a few sets in, it was obvious that we were off the pace.

No offense to Newcastle, but I commented early that anyone else would beat us today.

I never thought they could actually beat us, the best outcome for them was that we would actually have to earn the 2 points - which is what ended up happening.

I expect us to play better next week.

I didnt think Chad was bad at all.

No worse than a lot of our other players.

You could argue Val was at fault for all 3 tries that newcastle scored. He should cop the criticism imo.

Yes but let's not get to Bennett's level and throw Val under the bus like Bennett did to Kahu the other night.

I didn't watch the game but I'm just glad we got the win. Sometimes an ugly win is just as vital as a pretty one. Let's see what next weekend brings.
