He ran what 10m?

So maybe 20-30m

Pretty sure he ran more than 10 mate. Plus it gets the defence on the backfoot straight up so you make more metres per run in the following tackles, so it probably evens out, but you are tiring their blokes more at the same time

20 felt about right but I've just had a look.

It was midfield so a tough kick, he ran 15m (the 20 to 35)
Next penalty we were on tramlines so can kick a bit longer, got 35m. So yeah 20m, maybe less from being midfield, maybe call it 15m.
I don't hate giving up 15-20m if he thought he saw something.

That set ended with the Graham knock on where he and Drinkwater dropped the Trindall bomb on the tryline so was very nearly a positive outcome.

So objectively worse outcome sure, but he thought there was something there worth running for and we ended up in position to nearly score. Not too dire.

How many less meters do you think we made?
It's not about that for me. We had just come out of that intense opening stand. We would have been far better off with a boot down field and a breather to regain some composure and get into good ball. Pretty sure that set we ended up kicking from 30-40 out.

Agreed.

Timing was off should’ve took a breather and a kick for touch

Cows had come out of the same intense opening stand and no doubt wanted a breather as well.

That's fine, I can certainly understand that viewpoint.
We gave up I've just figured out probably 15m and still ended up with an attacking opportunity.
Can't say for sure but I think Fitz would back Hynes to press the advantage there - balls in our hands don't give them a breather.

Botched attacking opportunity and they got 10m play the ball, then Graham gave away penalty then they kicked for distance* (also, we'd already had breather now while potential try got reviewed so that element is lessened) and then Drinky scored (off a forward pass) beating McInnes and Rudolf. So arguably it contributed to us being worse off, but still, I think there was merit in going for it.

*from centre filed they got just 20m from kick! So 5m more than we got from Nicho's run, although I'd back Trindall to give it a little more than Chad. Nicho chasing an opportunity he saw may have only cost us like 10m. Would call that low risk, high reward.

Agreed, settle it down, put the ball out, reset and give the team a breather.

Yeah I don't think it's a big deal. Wrong call for mine but I'd want Nicho to have a crack if he thinks it's on.

I thought once we started holding the ball, he was able to control the game well. He kicked into corners and was mounting some pressure. Would have been nice for us to hold the pill and to see some of that in the first half too.

Got very unlucky with one of those kick when rapana took advantage of that stupid rule, was a fantastic kick that gets unrewarded due to a stupid rule

Im surprised that dumb **** rapana knew he could do that. There should be a rule about once the ball is not moving you cant do that.

We'd challenge it & get some "although the ball appears stationary, the Earth is still moving throughout an ever expanding universe. Challenge unsuccessful."

The ruck is so messy today. We stopped letting the team with the ball take the piss getting ruck penalties but gone too far now that any screw up is the ball players fault & DHs have to climb through defenders to pick up the ball or forced to go 1 way because someone is blocking the other direction.
