Munster’s in serious doubt for the Manly game so we’ll likely get another look at Hynes in the 6 jumper this time in a big game.
Some nice touches but was fairly quiet I thought.
There was that one rushed kick that went out on the full
I'm not deathriding him and I'm excited for him to join us next year, but my worry about Nicho is he's looked a lot better at fullback on the end of those block plays.
It's almost like he's waiting for other players to bring him into the game, rather than the other way around.
He obviously has the running and passing game to succeed at 6, but it'll be interesting to see if he has the disposition to grab games by the scruff of the neck like a Cameron Munster for example.
Should be an advantage. His hammys should be so tight that you just pull his kicking leg back Crossbows and Catapults style. The ball should fly with that tension.
I reckon that conversion that hit the uprights was one for us. Hope the Tits only win by 10. Then we own Nicho even before he gets here.
a great back up for Kennedy too {lets hope we never see that}i still cant believe we landed this guy
he is just all class

Hynes will be too busy being our first choice five-eighth to cover fullback. I’d like to see Metcalf there is something happens to Will.
If something happened to Will I'd say Nicho at FB and Metcalf/Moylan covering 6.

I think that would be a mistake if we did that. Leave him in the 6 to make the spot his own IMO.

if anything it was part of the appeal of signing Hynes the fact he is a more than capable fullback with plenty of room to still develop that part of his game and improve
we know how important the FB is, the Storm wern't complaining having Hynes available to play 1 when PappaHouso was injured
Ok i think you’ve missed my point. Im not doubting Hynes ability to play fullback, I’m saying I’d rather have the stability of having Hynes focusing on his fulltime role at 5/8th and building the combinations with Trindall and his outside men rather then move him around. If he’s our long term 5/8th i’d rather he just play there as opposed to covering fullback if Will is injured. I think the stability will help us in the long run, plus we have Metcalf who is no stranger to playing fullback so for the sake of the stability of the teams spine I’d rather just put Luke there if Will goes down as it lessens the impact on the rest of the spine.
I understand the counter point but if there was a choice I’d lean towards the more stable scenario. Just my preference in that situation.
I think I get it, but... do you weaken the whole (likely team for weeks at a time) to give him the chance to settle in at 7, or do you field your strongest side? I feel like the spine combo is just as important now (half/fullback probably even more so) as the 6/7 combo, especially if halves are playing opposite sides of the field... too many unanswered question around this!
I feel like the team would be at its strongest with Hynes in halves full time anyway. I get what you, bort and Gards are saying but I just see it a bit differently.
I agree, I think it is far to early to rule out Hynes ever playing any fullback, especially based around a hardly fleshed out 'what if'.
But I am more than happy to see Will stay healthy and make Hynes earn his place in the halves.

I think they only played him in the halves because there were injuries and Pap was back.
This weeks game he is on the bench or could even get left out which I doubt..
