I know but you can't play like a bum exactly and still get votes every week (just some of them)
Popularity vote from players in well performing sides?

Obviously better to be in the mix than not but

He could win best player and best dude

Would also make Sharks back to back Ken Stephen’s medal club.

I know Teddy got picked for Origin and all (though is an incumbent) but what were his performances like earlier in the year in the Roosters bad patch ? It's been a long year and I just can't remember

Think he would be behind those other names mentioned

Speaking of those other names mentioned, Nicho is the only one of them that has come into a new club and not only that but in a new position

Those other players are more settled and established, I know it prob doesn't effect the votes much but it's quite remarkable when considered that Nicho is in the running
Teddy was on 14 when voting went blind. 2 behind Nicho and 5 behind Hunt. With the roosters great run he could be in with a shot.

Yeah but they have also shared a lot of points around imo but agree he would have clocked some points

I don't think Hunt is as much of a lock as people think he is.

When the Sharks win Nicho gets points almost by default but he's also playing well so clocking some 3 points imo.

Hunt will get default points too but the Dragons aren't winning as much so not sure he's going to get many 3's

They have had a few decent wins still he could get 3s in

Hunt had 19 votes at round 12

Since then Dragons have had
3 W 13+
1 W 1-12
2 L 1-12
4 L 13+

So if he got 3 votes for each win, average 2 for a close game and 0 for a 13+ loss that's another 15 for a total of 34.
1 less than Turbo won with last year.

To apply a similar completely flawed system to Nicho...

16 votes at round 12, then
5 W 13+
4 W 1-12
1 L 1-12
0 L 13+

Call it 2.5 for big wins, 1.5 for close games (because we have more players likely to take votes off Nicho than they do Hunt I think)
Gives him another 20 votes, total 36.

Lock Hynes in for now, two rounds of results to go. But my 'system' should give Hynes another 5 votes for them so he'd be unassailable.

Looks good Bort.

So, do you think there are no other contenders besides Hunt and Nicho?

Scrap everything else and run with this.
Give Nicho the award now.

Well the other contenders were Yeo (17), Paps (15), Moses (15), Teddy (14), DCE (13), Edwards (13).
I don't think Edwards or DCE would get enough, and Paps is dead. Eels likely too inconsistent + DBrown would steal a lot.

Yeo would be
4 W 13+
4 W 1-12
0 L 1-12
2 L 13+

So rating same as Nicho as he'd get a lot of points poached by others (but not as many as if Cleary was playing)
Gives him + 16 for a total of 33.

Teddy
5 W 13+
1 W 1-12
4 L 1-12
0 L 13+

+ 20 points for total 34

That's well calculated Bort. I like it

It's like 99% ifs and buts... maybe more
