Just put Tricky in the 7 jersey make him halfback, play him on the right and make him the dominant half. Nicho to the left and wear the 6 jersey as running 5-8. Its not rocket science, you're just putting them in their suited positions and all will be aligned with the universe haha
What benefits is there to them switching sides?

None.

Especially as they play both sides of the field as it is. They might change jersey numbers and roles to some degree in the off season but I can't see them changing to playing one side only. That would be a pretty restrictive way to play.

Mentioned above by brandy and Ennis, be better for Trickys kicking game being a right footer (seeing he's going to be the main kicker).
Also helps with rep selections, i do want Nicho to redeem himself in the origin arena, see him carve up on the left edge with Moses or Cleary on the right, who he's stuck behind. Shouldnt be a big deal for them to adjust to switching, they've played both sides.

Not fussed on which side they prefer but I think tricky needs to be kicking from the right side of the field

That's perfectly reasonable
Was more referencing some horrendous Facebook takes than anything

From a medical perspective I'm lead to believe there's a difference between return to play and return to performance. @The Punisher could explain better.

My understanding is just because he was fit, doesn't mean he would dive straight into his best football. I still think any level of fitness he needed to be picked.
I don’t think he needed to be picked if he wasn’t fully fit.

We weren’t struggling or desperate for him to come back ; all the games we won with him back weren’t won off the back of Nicho either

The way he played when he came back says either he was still injured or wasnt able to pick up his form before he was injured

It’s all hindsight but to say he needed to be picked is hard to agree with because the performances pretty much ended up saying the opposite, with a little bit more finesse we maybe could’ve got the Panthers tbh

I believe it’s a consensus based on right foot kickers kicking on the right hand side of the field
If that's what it takes im fine with a switch. Would be very happy for Tricky to just float in on 4th/5th though. Could be a great point of deception if Tricky lines up on the right side for a kick and Brailey goes for a short side dart with Kennedy etc.

Both halves definitely need that extra time to kick as much as possible though.

Tbh I’m not sure telling a half which side of the field to play on will or should dictate the side he kicks from. It’s perfectly ok to just float in and out, however the premise that he should be kicking more to the right is correct.

The half just needs to understand that, and position himself correctly.

For whatever reason, Trindall does seem to go to the blind at times. Which is ok if something is on, but if he is to be the dominant half, he needs to figure his positioning better for kicks.

The biggest difference would be which side they defend on. Whether that impacts either I have no idea.

This would be the second biggest difference but it's pretty minor in the scheme of things. A good kicker can stand half a step back and take a moment to align themselves, or place themselves where they want to kick from within the structure.

Obviously if you played a dedicated left and right half that would be a huge factor if you swapped them, but we don't

Yeah, thing is with Trindall, he is really slow to setup. So he really needs to get his positioning correct. It’s an aspect of the game, setup time, he needs to work on.

Yep would he handy if Nicho was left footed for sure.

The Ennis and brandy thing is what I thought you were getting at. The position we get to for kicks is developed over thousands of reps at training, So part of the plan to kick from that short side. Or if tricky is the organising half, he is placing himself in a poor position to kick against the team plan. He could still swing around to the open side to kick down the short side.

The short side we like to put up the contestable bombs
I don't think we'd intentionally take too many long kicks short side, which is what is more relevant to Tricky

Both players do a decent job with their contestable bombs imo

That's just blatantly false. He is not the one who touches the ball the most at all.

Finals Wk1: Hynes 38 Trindall 33 (non-kick touches)
Wk2: Hynes 77 Trindall 45
Wk3: Hynes 54 Trindall 31

Maybe Trindall has increased his talk and direction on field, I have no doubt he has at least somewhat, I'd be seriously surprised if he had surpassed Hynes in that space, but again, maybe he has. But saying he has more touches is demonstratably incorrect.

I did non-kick touches above but Hynes had more touches each game still if you include kicks.

I've always said Hynes can play both positions, my question about the switch has always been what does it actually achieve.
And does it take away from what Trindall is doing well if we tweak his role into more first receiver rather than what he is doing now that is working.

It's not one halves job to take the ball away from the other Mal. If we put Braydon in the 7 shirt it won't be his job to 'get the ball away from Hynes' either, and nor should it be.
Don't understand this **** about trindall taking over or all the criticism around Nicho for that matter.

Nicho's essentially been playing injured since round 11, bowed out for 2 months after origin and the dolphins game, then came back in with 2 games left in the season while still maybe not 100%.

And people are wondering why he isn't an 8/10 game-managing halfback.

People are wondering why he isn't that by looking at a lack of personal highlights or attack stats
Not throwing the last pass or taking dynamic scything runs doesn't indicate at all how much game managing he is or isn't doing.

Wishing we saw more of those things, sure, that's fine.

But instead we're saying he's not a 7 because he hasn't been getting running highlights, Trindall who runs less is our 7, but Hynes should take his opportunities more, by doing less, and then he can be a running 5/8 and run more like Trindall doesn't when he plays 5/8 and that way Trindall who is clearly our halfback can play halfback, which he already clearly is, and Hynes can stop taking pointless runs and take more runs!
That way Trindall will be able to do what we claim he is already doing and that is to do the stuff like direct the team which we can't actually tell who is doing it but Trindall either does it better already or would do it better in a different shirt! We need to take possession away from Hynes so he can't play Nichoball but if he isn't doing everything what are we even paying him for. Look how good Trindall's going he's clearly our best half let's change that!

It's little wonder the space amoeba are the one's who can see it.

(That's the roundabout nonsense I interpret some of the swap Hynes and Trindall comments to be)
