Best halfback in the game huh - controlling the game against the tigers wonderfully.

Why on earth would a coach want to turn one of the most dangerous runners of the ball in the entire game into a kicker/game manager ? Especially when he’s got a perfectly suited halfback to partner with him waiting for him in the wings… that’s right, it’s because he loves Monglan

I know most of you now realise where we are at but I wonder when the rest of you will catch up
He runs the ball too much... why doesn't Nicho control the game, kick to corners, build pressure.

He kicks to corners to build pressure... why doesn't he run more.

Seems like you missed the whole point of the post

You can't win no matter what both our halves do on here
I think because there's no real consistency with our halves. Sometimes it looks like Hynes just pushing every pass and every play and Moylan goes missing.

The only time we ever actually see them click into gear is when we're against crappy sides.

Gee, some of you guys are tough to please.
I thought he played a pretty good game. Goal kicking wasn't great granted, but otherwise I don't see anything wrong with his performance. A couple of try assists, a try, a great (no) try celebration and steered us around the park without overplaying his hand.
What else do you want from a halfback?

He was dreadful

Only had a try, 3 assists, a linebreak and 3 linebreak assists along with an almost perfectly balanced kicking game

Dreadful

What do we want?

The errors are clangers. And that ball on their line was woeful. So I would like these to be cut back to one a game at most.

Also would like his kicking between the posts and not at them. It’s really starting to trigger me.

His defence to be better. He’s not small.

Fifth tackle options to be better. If your the kicker, don’t take the fourth hit up. Just stuff like this.

Nice back up try though.

Not completely bad but not a million dollar player.

You’re getting triggered by the goal kicking hitting the posts? Lol.

The ball at the try line was whiffed by Graham.

I think that there is a real correlation between his drop in consistency and the SOO debacle and his mum coming to stay with him . That's a shite load of pressure on anybody . I think once the SOO fiasco has moved on he will get some focus back .

I definitely don't think he's the best halfback in the game, but you make this out like Fitz is shoehorning him into a position he doesn't want to play. Which is just not true.

I can think of multiple reasons to put him at 7:

1. Since we've signed him, that's been the best make up of the squad. IF we were able to sign someone like Adam Reynolds at the same time, you'd absolutely play him at 6, but you have to pick the squad based on your best available players. I know you dispute who those are, but given the more info available to the coach, he has determined that is Moylan and Hynes for the halves. Making Nicho the obvious 7.

This same situation happened when Val left us high and dry for the NFL. Moylan clearly wasn't a fullback anymore, but the best available was SJ so moving Matty was the smartest choice available.

We don't need to debate who is better out of tricky and Moylan. I'm in record as being happy to see trick get his shot, but the coach obviously doesn't think he's going well enough to move our best player from the position he's been playing, nor is he good enough to supplant our 6.

2. It's not like there isn't decent precedent in the nrl for fullbacks/ball runners turning into good halfbacks at the Nrl level. Nicho's old teammate in Hughes is a great example. It's a bit easier for any 7 when you're playing alongside Grant and Munster, I have no doubt Nicho would do just as well if not better than Hughes as 7 for the Storm if he'd stayed.

3. The man wants to play there. He's been on record multiple times saying he wants to be THE guy. He wants to lead the team and have his hands on the ball as much as possible. He has also said that he'd be happy to do anything for the team though, so if we had a gun 7, I have no doubt he'd be happy to move, but see point 1 for this.

TLDR: Is he the best halfback in the NRL, not yet, is Fitz an idiot for playing him there, absolutely not.

He plays great don't get me wrong. But he definitely plays with alot of pressure on his shoulders, regardless of his situation.

Some of us are harsh critics when we see a drop ball, a play or pass pushed when it didn't need to be and when he takes himself out of the last play option by running. But, he's still the best. It's frustrating but I would not swap him for ANYONE.

Moylan though.... 🤣 ....nah I'm just being cheeky now.

The Moylan/Hynes combo was off last night. On the positive - I thought teig/Moylan/sifa had a better defensive game putting the first try aside where teig was netballing again.

I wouldn't say off, it looks as though Hynes just wanted to take complete control, especially in the second half.

Great when we are facing the cellar dwellers, but against the quality sides he gets found out pretty easily. He gets rushed and he starts playing in panic mode.
