I felt sorry for Manning for about 0.0001 seconds, and then euphoria, even though I go for the Jags.

Minor prediction: America will stop feeling sorry for the city of New Orleans now.

Should have brees really won the MVP? sure, its hard to argue against it, but I just didnt think it was a super dominant display, the most valuable player was the guy who intercepted for a touchdown, or maybe the guy who recovered the onside kick.

I think Brees was a worthy winner. To tie a Super Bowl record with 32 completions in VERY impressive.

That's a complete joke if you think the guy who recovered the onside kick should get the MVP. If it wasn't for Brees they would of been able to capitalize on that onside kick situation. Tracy Porter came up with one important play during the game, where as Brees led 3 drives leading to TD's. If anyone else was to be considered for MVP it would of been Jonathon Vilma the MLB for the Saints, who came up with crucial tips on numerous passes on key 3rd and 4th down plays.

Really admire what the Saints achieved, but it's a shame for Manning that he had to choke. I was hoping he would lose, but lose gracefully so it wouldn't tarnish his great reputation. Unfortunately, every time from now on in when he is being discussed in the GOAT talk that play will be brought up.

I don't watch any NFL, but I did watch that game and what a game it was.
Well done New Orleans.

As someone who appreciates the NYG more than any other team in the NFC, I felt the same way. How dare he!

Well, that's it for another season of the NFL!

After todays SuperBowl, I was pretty bored and started doing a bit of historical research on the NFL - past winners, franchise histories, etc.

Anyway, in one of those strange cosmic co-incidences, I discovered that the team I follow in the NFL, The Cincinnati Bengals, have quite a bit in common with the Sharks!.

The Bengals, like the Sharks, were established in 1967 (although their first season in the then "AFL" - American Football League - was 1968)

Like the Sharks, they were established as a breakaway from a "big brother" - The Cleveland Browns.

Finally, like the Sharks, the Bengals have contested two Superbowls (Grand Finals, I don't count Super League) - and have lost both. Like the Sharks, who lost both Grand Finals to Manly, the Bengals lost both their Grand Finals to the 49ers.

So, Sharks fans, if you don't have an NFL team for next season, I implore you: Give the Bengals a go! It may be painful but, hey! We're used to that!:cheers

I could barley stand him at NYG. He talked more then he played, or played good for that case. He had a knack for dropiing the easy one. Sure he is 'tough' but he is a diva wasn't need in NY, give me boss anyday! No he is tough.

You should get a bit of value on the betting market for next year, I have a feeling about the houston texans making a bit of a play for the super bowl.

Maybe, but the AFC South was (and has been for a while now) the best division in the NFL. Not one dud team. The worst team in our division (my beloved Jags) were only one game shy of .500. Of any team in our division next year, I'd be tempted to put some yellow down on the Titans.

I'd like to see the NRL players play 16 games of NFL.

But you got your wish peach. Extended to 18 games soon.

Drag Queen territory.
I actually enjoy NFL but wholeheartedly agree it is far too slow. Here is an interesting piece of trivia for you. The actual time the ball is "in" play in a game of NFL is about 8 minutes on average. That refers to the time the ball is actually being kicked, thrown, caught, carried etc. The rest of the time is spent in huddles and on the line of scrimmage.

I'd love to see a "modified" form of the game where there is much less down time and also basically only one "team" of players, with a few specialist positions allowed. ie; your QB doesn't have to play defence but linebackers double as running back, wide receivers as safeties etc. Would appeal much more to Aussies, I reckon.:cheers

I like this idea in theory, but as a fan of both games I appreciate their intricacies and failings equally.

i just hate that the season is short and is over before you know it

I don't think you appreciate the toll it takes on their bodies peach. Sure they aren't all that fit when it comes to running for extended periods, but they can hit and take a hit like no other sportsmen in the world. There's a reason why most RB's are only good for 6 or so seasons.
