Honestly, I'm not sure but I heard those numbers being thrown about. That being said, if those numbers are right then that's the max he can receive under the cap. 100k for an untried rookie is pretty unheard of in itself - and what he would have to achieve to reach the 1.3mill would be so far reaching that they probably wouldn't care if they had to pay it...it would be a hell of a year.

Anyone watching? Appears Hayne is going well again.

10:45am: Here's what our NFL expert Paul Zalundardo has to say about Hayne's start against the Cowboys.

"It's gonna be hard to not put that guy on this football team." I bet you never expected to hear that said about Hayne three months ago. You cannot understate how important it is to an offence to start a drives from around the halfway line. It sets the perfect stage for a mixed offence of running and passing as we have seen today from the 49ers. Even if a drive goes three-and-out, the team is dominating field position.

Yeah just saw it on fox. You'd think he'd get a spot now and good on him.

Wonder how someone like RTS would go at it with the way he moves probably lose to much agility putting on the necessary muscle

Hayne booked a spot in the 53 man roster after today. This is coming from someone who was a massive critic of his chances and thought he never ever make it.

He was handed #1 punt returning role today and that alone will land him a spot on the final roster. Only an injury will hamper his chances now.

Massive respect to Hayne

I know nothing about the game but I'm loving watching his progress. It takes massive balls to do what he's doing. I respect this bloke enormously.

Seen some highlights, awesome to watch.
Packers lost to Steelers today, worse yet Jordy Nelson suffered a torn ACL

Big loss but not the end of the world by any stretch. We can cover it.

Massive dent in the Packs SB chances for mine.

It's a dent no doubt but we're more suited to cover his injury than any other team in the league. We still have Cobb and Adams, and I really rate Janis. Montgomery could be anything.

Also helps having the best QB throwing the ball.

Certainly got the players to cover Nelson, but don't forget he was a massive part of our last Superbowl win. Was 2nd best player on the field.

My thoughts exactly - I was big on support but couldn't see it happening. I hope they can keep a lid on the hype and cant wait for the next game

Jordy is a top 5 reciever. Obviously it helps having the best QB in the league but your whole WR&TE unit will have to step up to compensate for his production. Rodgers relied on Nelson on hurried throws a tonne last year because he knew he could trust Jordy to haul in tough catches. Interested to see if Cobb can step up to #1.

Reggie Wayne is still a free agent, he could be handy for you guys. But thats not how the Pack operate so i doubt you guys even take a look.

Does he actually have a contract or just a trial contract?

Hayne?
Partially guarenteed contract.

Teams usually start pre-season/training camp with 90+ players. After the 2nd week of pre-season cuts are made to that roster. Then again after week 3 and after week 4 the final 53 man roster needs to be selected for the up coming reg season. Teams can 5 players on their practice squad that is outside of the 53 man roster as injury assurance.
