You are probably right could account for all the backrowers we have.
Nope that's sticky/flanno's doing

Gal had his sights on halves/backs

It is strange though... "Hi I'm Paul Gallen, the guy that will never pass the ball to you but I will try and do your job. Come play for the Sharks"

STORM LINKS WITH SUNSHINE COAST FALCONS
MELBOURNE STORM – JULY 16, 2014
POSTED IN: MELBOURNE STORM, NEWS
Sunshine Coast Eagles

Melbourne Storm has joined forces with the Sunshine Coast Falcons after finalising a feeder team relationship with the Queensland state league outfit for the next three years.

The Falcons will join Brisbane Easts as the Storm’s second feeder team. Storm players at the start of next season will be split into two groups that will see developing Melbourne players not selected in the NRL side play for their designated Intrust Super Cup side.

Storm’s partnership with the Falcons means the Club’s relationship with Cronulla in the NSW Cup will end at the end of 2014.

Melbourne Storm CEO Mark Evans said the partnering with two Queensland based feeder teams was an exciting proposition.

The Lurker:

Sharks to resuscitate Newtown

Cronulla is set to win the battle to save the Newtown Jets.

The future of the Jets was placed in grave doubt last week when the Roosters decided to dump the club as its NSW Cup feeder team for 2015.

The Roosters are adopting the Central Coast as their feeder region and there were fears the Jets would die when the Roosters withdrew valuable funding.
But the Bulldogs and Sharks have both expressed interest in adopting the Jets.

I initially thought Canterbury - with more money at their disposal - would win the battle.

But the Bulldogs wanted to put major demands on Newtown - including taking games away from their traditional home at Henson Park and playing at ANZ Stadium in curtain raisers to NRL games. That didn't sit well with the Jets and they are now leaning towards Cronulla for 2015.

The Lurker, so not exactly reliable. But still interesting.

interested to see how that would work with us, what benefit would it be to us? would we be funding two independent NSW cup sides? would we get to pick from both sides for 1st grade?

I'm a bit each way with this one. I'm going to miss the occasional NSW Cup curtain raiser at Shark Park, but any move that saves the club money I'm 100% behind. Also we'll have access to some hidden gems that are contracted to the Jets, that's always a good thing.

We already play a bunch of games at Henson anyway, plus i've got a massive soft spot for the jets living there up until last year.

Backdoor method to being able to utilise Arana Taumata IF we were desperately short of a half due to injury.
I know Arana Taumata is a grub, blah blah blah , but could be a cheap, handy grub for us whilst playing mainly under the Newtown banner

Gems is what I thought previously on this thread

The only advantage I can see is that Newtown - i.e. whoever is bankrolling them - will take on some of the Costa of a NSW Cup side. We would probably also save some money by not opening the stadium so often.

But apart from that... they have no junior or senior league teams so its not a 'feeder' relationship and it doesn't open up much in the way of new support areas.

I hope we do it but it doesn't really seem to be a major advantage.

If it happens I hope the Club can find an appropriate role for Tony Herman too. Perhaps as the U20s coach. He's too good to lose.
