That’s ****ed man. Sorry to hear that! People that exploit people like that are lowest of the lows

Thanks man,yeah it's appalling.

Thankfully alot of the employees who actually worked with the participants personally were there for the right reasons and have helped them get into safe housing and new services they can trust.

Got two tears in my achillies, so bored out of my mind as I cant move around for the next two months at least.

Just an update on this if interested. I wont need surgery but I’m in a moon boot for about three months. That was best case scenario for me, especially since I'm out of that ****ing cast.

Good to hear the update, mate.
Let me know how you get on with that housecleaning thing... if that works out, mind if I borrow the moonboot when you're done? Just for a few months.

Doubt it mate, still seems to be alive.

Nah she says killing me would be too kind.

Alive, but crazy

Don’t know why I give that impression……

Good to hear the update, mate.

I reckon the missus might burn it when im done if her current attitude towards the extra housework is anything to go by….

When it comes to housework, I just get in and do it. Makes it all so much easier and even better when you do things that she’s just not expecting.

My mother-in-law constantly praises me on everything I do around the house as her late husband (my wife’s father) truly believed a woman’s place was in the home and kitchen and did nothing whatsoever to help.

His day consisted of going to work in the morning (he was a locksmith) came home for lunch if he was working nearby (lunch was made and ready for him) went back to work and when he came home he’d sit in the chair watching TV until his dinner was ready for him. He’d watch TV while having dinner and that would be his spot until bed time.

He just expected all the housework would be done.

My wife certainly made sure I wasn’t going to get away with all that!!!

I am genuinely fine with it if you can manage off one income. I'd love to stay home, cook, and clean if we could afford it! However, in our family we both work full-time so we share the load equally. It is crazy to me that people out there still have an old-school attitude around housework despite both working full-time.

Yeah I agree. I'm with you, I'd prefer to be the one at home doing all of that but for the same reason as you, it will never happen.

I should have added that in addition to his locksmith work, my in-laws ran a marine products business. They had the Australian patent for a product called Permatrim - it is an attachment that goes on the bottom of outboard motors to help a boat plane better in the water. They were big members of the Sutherland Shire Fishing Club in Taren Point. While he would certainly give advice and do sales over the phone and also do some installation work if it was in Sydney, my mother-in-law basically ran the business, doing all the bookwork, sending emails, taking orders, packing up orders and sending them to all parts of the country while he didn't do any of that at all. Left it all to her. And he still expected all the housework to be done and his meals provided.

They did this still while they were in their late 70s and while my mother-in-law wanted to retire long before this, my father-in-law did not. And since his word ruled, they kept going. What she did would have exhausted me, I do not know how she kept it up for so long. Anyway, he passed away just over two years ago and she finally sold the business. Sad it took a death for all this to happen.

Wow, sounds like a saint of a woman to deal with all that!
