Yeah absolutely recognised that too regarding the leagues club being out of their control. I had more context in the actual email.

In general I like the idea of the dogs members only content, or teams like the Knights doing regular injury updates with interviews with head of performance/rehab staff. You're right to assume I'm not across all, but Supercoach has seen me diving through a few.

The main crux is the experience is generally getting worse, and the price is consistently getting higher, is there anything they are going to do about improving the experience? I feel like they could do more for what they are charging at this point in time.
There's definitely a question of whether you are buying a worthwhile product or if you are 'supporting the club' and in reality it's probably a mix of the two.

You have to hope you and the club are relatively aligned on where the price falls along this scale.

If your experience is too good and great value, they are probably overspending on it. If your experience is too ****, there is only so much you will pay extra 'for love of the team'.

Yeah I think the balance has tipped too far to the later at this point. If for some reason my family couldn't renew, I'd definitely give up my seat. But it's nice to go and catch up and spend that time over a shared passion whilst being able to actually see the game.

I'd genuinely be happy with bringing back the merch voucher and some better/exclusive digital content.

I've never emailed the club before, but just sent through one with some of the following info and was interested in your thoughts.

Decline in member experience over the last decade:

Leagues Club
- Once again we head into a season without a leagues club, and no capacity for members to expand their game-day experience on either side of the game.
Limited Capacity - A smaller crowd has severely impacted on the atmosphere at the ground.
Less games - Since the Jet's merger we've gone from 3 grades to 2 grades. Plus we've gone from 12 home games to 10.
Failing amenities - The state of the bathrooms at the ground are awful, and constant lines for beers and food make it not worth bothering.
Membership packs - Transition from a merch voucher that was actually useful to a package of plastic garbage that ends up in the bin.
Poor communication from the club - The lack of information around player availability, injury etc is well below what has come to be the norm at other sides.
Members getting screwed come finals - Any home final we've had has been a disaster for tickets with the 'members early release' not including all tickets for purchase. It has been incredibly frustrating buying what you can get early, just to see better tickets released later to the general public.

Other clubs membership options

Bulldogs
$550 for top level seating at a premium stadium. They are also including members exclusive content.

Dragons
$250 for GA where fans can stand on a fantastic hill with great views of the action. Unless you stand on the family hill it's a struggle to see anything at Shark Park unless you're 6 foot tall.

Manly
$330 for GA, but again like St George fans have the ability to view the game from amazing angles on the hill.

Tigers
$300, but as above, the GA experience is MUCH better than Shark Park.

Panthers
$170 for 8 games GA at Commbank Stadium where there isn't a bad seat in the house! Amazing value especially when the club could easily have jacked the price up to take advantage of their success.

Roosters
$295 for all home games at a brand new state-of-the-art stadium.
Yeah I don't disagree with this, but I think there have been some positive changes in the last few years too:
  • Bay Central now open.... not a bad spot to grab some food before or after. It's not the leagues club, but it's something
  • NRLW games are now included in the membership. That was 3 extra games this year, and likely 4 next year you would think.
  • Free entry to Jets games.... I think that's $15/game.
  • Membership packs - I actually don't mind them, I mainly get the backpacks and drink bottles, and all have been good quality. Just keep to simple things, and they are alright.
  • Stands are full of Sharks supporters. Even 5 years ago, you would commonly have opposition supporters in the main stands... now it's generally only a friend of a member, or a buyback.
In terms of communication, there's some parts of the year that I want more info, but a lot of the season, there's just too much to ever watch. So I feel like the balance is OK. Newtown injury updates would be good, but I guess giving more info to other clubs is not always helpful.

Given that we're heading into a very potentially positive year, I think 10% was about what I expected. Not thrilled, but I'm ok with it.

Same. I checked very regularly this season and not once did I see two adjoining seats for sale in the ET or PB stands.
Quite often there are buyback tickets available in the Monty Porter stand 1-2 weeks out. Not the best view in the ground, but the best winter-weather stand.

Yeah some fair points particularly with NRLW when on the same bill. Jets entry is great, but unrealistic to be find time to attend two footy games on the weekend.

To each their own on the members pack. I always loved the voucher and used it to subside a bigger spend on merch. The only thing this year I would have used was a gym towel and they ran out, promised to restock but never did so I ended up with nothing. I just find it disingenuous when they give you $50 credit to spend on stuff you know is worth cents that I don't want. If they had a sharks have heart donation option I'd rather tick that.

Totally agree about the Merchandise Voucher v the Credit in recent years to use on overpriced crap & postage .

In relation to membership cost , as I read it there will be 11 Home Games at Shark Park v 10 in last few years .

Only Magic Round will be a Home Game away from Shark Park.

From the FAQs
2. Will the Sharks be playing any home games outside of Sydney?
Yes, the Cronulla Sharks will be taking a home game to Magic Round.

Interesting, aside from the above, this article suggests maybe not:

Tonight marks the culmination of a successful four-year partnership between City of Coffs Harbour and National Rugby League (NRL) high flyers Cronulla Sharks.

The contract with Coffs Council expired in 2024 .

I think the expectation was a home game in Las Vagas in 2025 to replace it , but not to be .

I only went to the one this year and it wasn't much fun between the muddy hills and the result.

If we're going to take one away, I'd prefer to go back to the Sunshine Coast!

Agree, except from a club POV re Bay Central.

these are $$$ and a big opportunity lost by the club which is disappointing so is a negative for me
