Ev will love this bit.

NRL CEO Dave Smith said Channel 9 has secured the rights to screen matches on Thursday, Friday and Saturday during prime time and on Sunday at 4 pm.

I will seriously consider giving Foxtel the flick next season with FTA games on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Not bad.

"Throw in the control the NRL will now have over its season draw so that deeper consideration can be given to the unique market needs of clubs from a home game scheduling perspective and we have an outstanding outcome."

Ah rightio. **** they really have done this early then.
yeah. It's only this side of things that is completed so far. Still have the fox deal and the rest to go and I was reading this morning the ch9 deal will decrease if fox want to show the same games at the same time as ch9 do. So hopefully fox come to the party and show all games live

**** yeah Chanel 9 commentators 4 times a week.

Really love the insight these blokes bring to the game!

Seriously these ****s have sort something out before then, I can't handle the dibble they carry on with also promoting other shows whilst live footy is on, I don't give a **** about "The Voice" Rabs

I know some of you will bitch about this being on free to air tv and the commentators. But As someone who doesn't have foxtel, and with no intention of getting it. I am over the moon about this.

Think about this for a minute.

Not everyone has foxtel. lots of people don't. Less exposure would eventually be bad for the game given it is a "working class game" and poorer parts of society wouldnt have access to it at home.

If your response to that is go to the pub?

What about children? we want kids watching the game. ALL kids. BEst way for that to happen is free to air TV

Now that I have foxtel I much prefer watching games on it. You're right though, it is better for the game with more games on FTA. Channel 9 should enjoy it while it lasts though.

The footy is the sole reason I have Foxtel, I don't have a problem with 9 having the rights but as long as they have a commentary team without the constant favouritism of players and teams.

Some of the conversations that they go on with are so left field it's not funny.

We have a billion dollar deal but have these clowns go on about god knows what.

I am surprised that FOXTEL has given up the "exclusive" Super Saturday.

Would not surprise if that 730 Saturday game is a simulcast on Fox and nine.

I've got Foxtel but would LOVE to get rid of it, I only have it for the NRL, if it was all or mostly on Free to Air with sort of decent streaming option which I'm confident there will be then bye bye Foxtel. In saying that I do prefer watching games on Fox, find the commentators less annoying etc.

Yeah, definitely live and free-to-air is for the best at this stage. Sports lose relevance real fast when they lose free-to-air (Just look at state cricket). It might be a different case if we had the internet to have real good streaming, but with Foxtel the only alternative then free-to-air is where it's at.

I was just hoping that another channel had a trundle at it. Channel 9 is just soooooo bad.

I can't remember the last time we had Saturday night football live and on free to air - must have been more than 15 years ago?? I have missed it. I do like that I can watch footy at home before heading out to the city to cause druken chaos or alternatively just have a quiet night in with the footy at home. I have no problem with going up to the pub though if it's on foxtel either heh
