Can anyone tell me if the results of the much publicised internal review have been released, or if in fact they will be released? The club (predictably) copped crticism from the footy show panel, but I thought it was a decent idea. I think Raper's fate was sealed long before the review was conducted and if I recall correctly B. Pierce said it wouldn't be used as justification for changes to the coaching staff. If that is all true then the review must have been held in the legitimate hope that it could uncover areas where the club is lacking. I would hope that the review did come up with some recommendations, otherwise we've forked out more cash for no reason. Basically I want the Sharks to succeed and am interested to know what measures (new coach aside) are being taken to make that happen.

It's a long way off, but bring on '07! Go Sharkies!!!

If the review is critical of the board, which I would suggest would be the case for sure, then I doubt it will ever see the light of day :)

I've e-mailed Greg Pierce with this below:

Hi Greg,

Congratulations to the club on securing the services of Ricky Stuart for 2007. I am very much looking forward to the Sharks being a successful unit next year.

Greg, the one thing that does interest me is the results of the internal review that was performed by the Mercury Group. I have been in touch with many Sharks supporters both face to face and via supporter websites and there seems to be a lot of negative talk about the validity of this review. Especially so since it was publicly said that the findings had nothing to do with Stuart Raper's departure.

Will these findings ever be made public? I thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

Hi Everyone - Greg Pierce rang me direct today to take me through the Mercury report. He wanted me to assure all Sharks fan that the review certainly was valid and has given them a lot of information on what is required for next year. The report has clarified roles and responsibilities within the club and recommendations on which direction to take.

Greg said that the report was never for public release and that the media was only ever interested in the coaching situation; they all drew conclusions like we all did I guess, that the review would decide the coaching job. Greg is adamant that this is not true. Once Ricky Stuart's appointment was made, media interest in the report dropped off and now Greg is not receiving any calls from the media asking for information. He said that anyone who wanted any information regarding the report was welcome to give him a call. His number is 9527 8271.

I must admit I have always found Greg Pierce accessible, he always rings you if you have sent an e-mail or left a message and he wants a premiership just as bad as we all do! He is doing the best he can for this club and I believe he has the club and supporters best interests at heart.

I also spoke to him about Noddy and Ricky working together - he said that was never an issue it was all a media beat up. There is no Noddy and Ricky feud, they have met together and are quite positive in building a strong club and being a premiership force. He said that Ricky believes in being a club coach and not just a first grade coach - he wants us to be strong across all grades.

I hope this helps everyone - remember you can ring Greg if there is something not covered here.

Cheers all! Go the Sharkies in 2007!

I can tell you the review basically highlighted that the club had no direction and that the management had no proper leadership and everyone is out for themselves. It also highlighted the structure needed to be change in order to move forward.

As much as it is good that Greg Peirce is accessible, i think that is part of his inexperience to be honest, he tells to many people too much. For us as supporters it is good but if you want to build strong and unified club in the right direction then everyone must work together and professionally.

Thanks for that info Chad, I always had a fair bit of time for Greg Pierce as a player and I agree that he seems like a good bloke with the interests of the club at heart. As Great White says, he is still pretty inexperienced and possibly naive as an administrator, but it is to his credit that he is so readily accessible and straight up with the supporters. That sort of honesty and transparency is what we need a hell of a lot more of at board level, we need that before we can move forward in other areas.

Good question Baby Shark - I haven't had confirmation yet but word is he will be paid out along with Stuart Raper - Ricky has brought Flanagan on board as his assistant.

Interesting there has been no announcements...You would have thought something would have been confirmed unless he is actually staying on in some other capacity. I find it difficult to conceive that he would not have had discussions about his future before he left for PNG. But the coaching situation has been done in a very sneaky manner I must say...

Mercury Report

In response to a previous post, somone emailed Greg Pierce who said the findings of the report were never meant for publication outside the club. Since then, I have read somewhere in the media that he suggested he was looking forward to releasing this information to members. I haven't seen or heard anything either way for weeks. Anyone out there wiser than I??

One of the news articles gave us a small insight into the report however it was nothing above what we had already predicted to be in there: Poor Management and Alienated Juniors.

Other than that, no word on it being released or what is actually in it.
