Let me break it down for you sparkles since I don’t mind you and you at least make sense sometimes..

Just to clarify ; Trindall was already signed for 2023 and we re-signed him for another 2 years in January through to 2025. Before a single game was played. Negotiations obviously earlier on top of that. So no he wasn’t a free agent for a long time and no HB does not have proof or truth that no other club wanted him

If you’re going to chime in a day later after the topic is already said and done like you said from “the other day” then atleast come to the table with something of substance or add to the topic - not on some trying to stir the pot sht which HB’s has already been called out for. It was pointless

and if HB was talking about 2 years ago when tricky was a free agent before Fitz was even coach, then it proves my point even further
He was a free agent from 1/11/22 to mid January 2023, not sure how that's two years ago.

Now re-read my reply to HB and don’t let it go over your head
You're right that there's no proof that Tricky was close to leaving, at least as far as I remember. But I also remember there being pretty strong mail at the time that it was a real possibility. With him being a quality young half trying to get a new contract and a better path to a starting gig, it made a lot of sense. Tricky staying for what always looked like a long term backup role does add some weight, in retrospect.

Could be wrong... 99% of the stuff we talk about here is pure speccies :D

About the only things I can glean from this recent conversation is this:

Wiz hates Moylan
Wiz loves Trindall
Wiz hates 2010
2010 hates Wiz
Wiz confuses Sparkles and HB

Is this all true?

Doesn’t even matter.

What he did covering for Hynes the beginning of this year would have him signed pretty quickly at a few clubs

Exactly. Tricky prior to 2023 probably wasn't in a huge amount of demand and he wasn't exactly beating the door down. He may have had some interest at other clubs, but it was likely to continue to be a third string option, which he was here so why move for that? If he was off contract this year, I expect he would have had starting offers after how he performed this year.

Realistically any teams recruitment staff worth their pay should have been able to see that level of play would be possible.
Was anyone in here blown away by how he went? Was pretty much what I would have expected, probably a little bit better but not significantly.

There was a pretty big sample size a recruit officer has had to make a judgement on potential on.
Before this season he has started 7 games at FE and 11 at HB and we have been generally happy with his performance for a fill-in player. Plus more than 30 games for Newtown.

If you want to sign him now it could be double what you could have had him for just 6 months ago and all he has done is play 3 NRL games for 1 win. PLUS you will need to give us one of your juniors in return.

While he was good to start this year he hardly came out of nowhere. We definitely don't know if there was other interest or not, but seems like a safe bet to say it wasn't with a high likelihood of a starting jersey. But I don't think we have seen a substantial increase in play quality from him vs what could have been expected.

My guess the NRL in general currently view him as a very strong backup so he didn't have any better offers, as teams either had reliable back-ups (your Maddens, Pezets, Salmon/Cogger etc) or had an eye on younger guys they see as being higher upside.

It's probably likely he is more similar to Fogarty than just nobody at Sharks or anywhere else has realised he is the next Jonathan Thurston, regardless of playing decent to start the year (for just 1 win).

You said he was off contract for ages and no one was interested.

He had a contract for 23 already and was able to be spoken to by other clubs for just 2 months so your post was pretty much false on both accounts

Fair on the 'ages' thing, stretched that a bit.

Is this all true?
Wiz thinks Moylan can be replaced
Wiz rates Trindall and thinks he’s going backwards by staying in NSW cup instead of getting better in firsts
Wiz thinks 2010 is dumb as sht
2010 is a stage 5 clinger obsessed

To be honest mate, and I’m not tooting my own horn, I saw how much talent he had years ago and only now are other people in here seeing it also.

I think there are a lot of jobs for mates in the nrl, and I’m sure some of them are employed as talent scouts.

Tricky always showed potential but 2023 was the first time he really put it all together in FG and backed it up a couple games in a row

2 months or whatever it was is enough time to be signed by another club if they really want you but the reality was he was a fringe FG player with inconsistent performances in the top grade.

If a club thought he would dramatically improve their squad they probably would have thrown more money at him and a starting position compared to what the Sharks game him otherwise the offers may well just be as a depth player which he already had going for him here.

As it stands today if he were a free agent you would think he would be a no brainier to replace someone like Kyle Flanagan at the Dogs in a starting position or potentially at some other clubs too. Doesn't mean we have to lose our minds and instantly promote him ahead of Moylan who is doing a pretty good job lately.

I’m not sure what the way to write this is that comes across as not trying to attack you, because I’m really not, but identifying years ago trindall should one day look like he can be a solid NRL 7 isn’t that remarkable. Go back and you will find most of this forum has said it.

The argument has largely always been is he the best choice right now.

If you thought years ago he’s a future immortal and that ends up happening you’ve nailed that one for sure.

In my eyes trindall hasn’t done anything that remarkable, or that the mOyLaN LoVeRs weren’t mostly agreeing he was capable of.
If anything what he did this year is actually a year or two behind where I thought he’d be, but I’ll give him lack of opportunity as a fair impact on that. He performed well, no denying it.

The chances you are a better talent ID than anyone in an official NRL capacity including Fitz who has him at 3rd choice half seems… unlikely. Chances are you’ve had some dud calls like all the rest of the amateur enthusiasts, myself included.

Seeing the Tigers win the last few weeks could you absolutely be 100% confident they do better with Trindall than Brooks? I’m
not sure they do much worse, but I couldn’t promise anyone they do better.

You don’t need a qualification to be a scout or identify talent.

Player managers do this all the time without no qualification and yes to identify Trindall is better then what people think he could be is to be be commended especially if it’s recognised years ago

Your last paragraph is silly because you could never prove it ;now if anyone asked you would you think trindall outplays Moylan in the first 3 rounds I guarantee you only some of us would say yes and that’s the point you’re missing

He’s just ****.

Gets a pass though because he digs deep in to the line when he passes and supposedly Hynes plays better when he’s in the team.
