Yeah it’s ok but I still feel uneasy about year 2..

As do I mate. Guess the big selling point is that this is the first time in his career that he's been in genuinely great shape and hasn't been having those injury issues.

Feels harsh given he’s had more than a 4 year career

Wonder if we could pay him 500k to make the second season a CO…

Fox reporting Moylan close to a 2yr deal worth 800k

Still have a preference for him to be retained on 1yr with option but 400k a year isn't a terrible result if true.
Terrible for so many reasons

2 years is okay. Hopefully we do hold onto dykes. It takes some time to develop young halves and Dykes and Trindall both have futures in the NRL best to be part of a winning team.

I think that their is a fair argument that he skated by on his natural talent for most of his early career. Not saying that to be dismissive, he played origin and internationals during that time.

From a pure fitness stand point I think fair to say he has never been in this kind of shape before.

Clarkey posted something earlier today asking who fans think is worth 1 mill a year.

Lots of people must of heard about Chad's e-mail because his name was being featured alot.
Chad's name? Worth at least a million to the forum :)

Yeah I guess but I assume he was pretty fit and in shape as a top NRL fullback

Agree it’s likely the most effort he’s ever put into his body.
I’d say he was probably fitter then than he is now but with a lot of that being spritely pre injury youth, now he’s back at a good level but he’s had to really work for it.

All valid points bort.

I do remember hearing Gus say something along the lines that he has never seen him in this kind of shape as well but very possible I'm misquoting.

Yeah probably a shape vs fitness question.
Depending how you want to define he’s probably in better shape now but likely has been as fit if not fitter when a top FB.

coincidentally????? I tend to think not..…
he was given a one year deal & this has seen a shift in his attitude & performance come off the back of it.

I really think, for me, one year deals, this is the way forward with him for more than a few reasons, give him decent money but all requires him to back himself & put in as a pro athlete outside of game day as well

We will never be a top tier team with Moylan in the halves… what a waste of 400k I guarantee we will end up re signing Nikora for about 600k then re sign Graham for 400k as well. Such ruthless recruitment

Go hard for Munster or Moses or even stick with Trindall save $ and develop him for a year then go into the market if still no good.. now we have Moylan we would have to re sign trindall for a back up half and by then we’re probably about 600k (200k min for Trindall) out of pocket and still short of an elite half for the next 2 years.

We should honestly save money and roll with Trindall for a year if it works it works if it doesn’t there’s potentially Dykes who would only be 2nd in line or we go into the market with big $ ..now we’re just stuck with Moylan

You know we don’t have to pick Moylan right? If Trindall actually becomes better than him in the next two years, we are allowed to put Moylan in reggies, or worst-case pay some of his contract to move him on. You are speaking as if every NRL contract is etched in stone and salary is the deciding factor in team selections.

If we were to sign one of the guys you suggest for 2024, take a hit for one year and move Moylan on - easy.
But we do have to pay him 800k burg
